This is getting crazy. I've recently been planning my next trip before my next trip! I've already made a reservation in Pop Century for 10/19-24. And I'm trying to make up my mind on whether to go to MNSSHP on 10/19 or 10/21 before my next WDW trip 5/31-6/3 (doing among other things in mostly MK and HS: BOG lunch, FoF, 7DMT, SW Weekend). And I planned that trip before my early April trip 4/5-9 (mostly Epcot and AK).

I agree with you there… I just missed some of the offerings they used to have. Like the free photo and some of the other entertainment offerings.
They used to create characters & VIP overlays just for the party and then never seen again.

If I see Mickey in the purple magician outfit one more time

Does it get booked quickly? Any idea why Fridays in Oct are more money? We were planning 24th as sons birthday but not if more money, we're doing lots that day already and he's only 5 so we can switch it to another day and he'll never know.

At close to $70, I dont know many people who can go more than once.... Ridiculous amount of money as compared to what they used to give the guests....
Better watch PhotoDave... There are those on here that would consider this whining... And to think I was having rogue thoughts of being out priced by the mouse, lol...

We are debating going on October 5th, we have never been before. Are all of the attractions open until midnight?

During party hours most attractions are open. All those attractions are open until midnight as far as I know. During the 4pm-7pm period (when you can get into the park with a party ticket) is when you can try to see the stuff not open later.

This is part of Disney's new model of pricing based on projected demand. Much like how they now charge more for buffets during holiday periods, not because they cost more to operate, but because demand greatly exceeds limited seating, and they simply feel like they can get away with it.

To put it simply, they charge more, because they can. It's guest-unfriendly and comes off as tacky and money-grubbing, but they're not concerned about how you feel about the practice, only how much money you can shovel at them.

You don't get any greater experience on the party days that are more expensive; the offerings are still the same. In fact, it's more likely to be a lesser experience, because they park will be quite crowded on those peak-demand nights. Your best bet would be to try to attend on a quieter day midweek. You'll have a better chance at getting spots for the parade, fireworks, and shorter lines for rides or characters. A better experience and less money spent.

Also, you didn't ask, but with a 5 year old, if you're already doing a lot of activities that day, its probably better to go to the party another night anyway. It can be a very long and tiring day to do parks all day, and all night for the party, especially with kids. Since you can go to the party starting at 4pm, lots of folks choose to use the daytime for swimming, relaxing at their resort, or visiting DD, and then head to the party early.

Yes, that's what I was thinking (about it being too much for him), I also have an 8 and 3 year old. Think we may now do it on one of our down days and do a morning activity, lunch at TRex, late nap then head to party. He did want to do it on his birthday but I'll just say it sold out. Thanks for confirming the supply/demand. (is it just me that when I hear the words supply/demand I am tempted to preface it with "HooHoo Big Summer Blowout". No? Just me then lol)

I still think for non-APs--particularly those who only come down every couple years or (especially) locals without regular park admission--MNSSHP on a moderately crowded night is the best way to see MK. Great fireworks, best parade, low crowds.
I do it every year so i can still get my MK fix. I use the Florida discount during the spring as well. The only way i will go to a park is with a great deal.

I was curious as to what people's opinions or experiences are. We are hoping to be there Spetember 12-20 and very much want to partake in the party. Are we crazy for wanting to attend on a Friday night (12), or should we wait and go on Sunday (14) or later?

Honestly, i never feel like the 'Party' is worth it. It is always mobbed and ends before you know it. Now maybe having more nights over Sept/Oct will disperse crowds, but i'd definitely recommend a Sunday if it is available.
