Oh my god...they are doing "Blinded me with Science"

It's the closest they've come (4 episodes in) to the type of skits they did on the original show.

Though, this really needs to be...Bunsen and Beaker.

John Goodman is actually pretty good in this show though. I'm actually enjoying this episode.

My mouth is watering so much over the frito-pie (that's what I have always called) and re-reading some of your food threads (I wanna have some good recipes for the break) I think I might just flood New Orleans again.

Here's my chili recipe.

englanddg's Chili

Ingredients
2.5 - 3 lb. ground beef (chuck)
1 to 1.5 lb. ground hot Italian sausage, if you can't find ground, buy whole Italian sausages and squeeze out the innards
1 tube of hot breakfast sausage
2 cans of Bush's (or comparable store brand) Chili Beans with Hot Sauce
2 cans of Bush's (or comparable store brand) Chili Beans with Medium Sauce
4 garlic cloves chopped
1 medium to large red onion chopped
8 oz. canned tomato sauce
1 cup water
1 bottle of beer (I like using a dark malty beer)
3 Tablespoons chili powder
2 Tablespoons instant beef bouillon (or 6 - 8 cubes)
2 Tablespoons cumin, ground
2 teaspoons paprika
2 teaspoons oregano leaves
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon coriander, ground
1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa
1/2 teaspoon Louisiana hot sauce (you should not use Tobasco for this...find a Louisiana style hot sauce)
1 teaspoon cornmeal (in the UK I believe cornmeal is called maize meal, but note it is NOT what we in the US would consider corn flour. Corn flour will not work properly.)
1 teaspoon flour
1 teaspoon warm water

Directions:

1. Brown half of the the ground meat (the beef and the pork), drain the fat.

2. Remove meat to a large pot. Brown the rest of the ground meat, drain all but 2 tablespoons of the fat.

3. Add the garlic and onion, cook until tender

4. Add the other half of the meat and the beans (with sauce), tomato sauce, water, beer, chili powder, bouillon, cumin, paprika, oregano, sugar, coriander, cocoa, and hot sauce. Mix well.

5. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer, covered , for 2 or more hours. Stir every 10 or so minutes to prevent sticking.

6. In a small bowl, stir together the cornmeal and flour, then add the warm water and mix well.

7. Stir into chili and cook, covered, for an additional 20 - 30 minutes.

8. Make some sweet cornbread muffins (I like jiffy mix to keep it simple), pour chili on top...OR eat it Petro's style and get some frito's chips in a medium serving bowl, and pour chili on top. Top that, in order, with shredded Mexican style or cheddar blend cheese, a dollop of sour cream, sliced black olives, sliced scallions (green onions), chopped fresh tomato and if you are adventurous, fresh sliced jalapeno (not the bottled pickled kind)

I'm bored, so I'll post my thoughts.

@RMichael21

You brought back Spectromagic!

I enjoyed you decision to replace Fantasmic, and found your concept incredibly solid.

Your video was fun. Even though it's cliche slides and you used an online builder, you made good choices! It WORKED!

I enjoyed it. The only thing I'll say is that some of your slides were a bit wordy during the into especially, and that made me have to pause the video to read them all.

I loved the "intro" where you run through the segments.

I specifically tried to avoid "Magic Kingdom" characters with anticipation that HS is going to become the place where IP that isn't MK "fits", but that was a creative choice. Your's worked really well! It was a creative choice on my part to keep it something which would ONLY work at HS (or perhaps DCA). But, that being said, I loved your concept!

Slice of "wow"...what a great term! I'm stealing that, thank you!

I just wish you'd made an attempt to at least post a soundtrack. I understand you not wanting to attempt animating an entire show (trust me, I wish I hadn't either), but I'd love to know more about your concept.

And...that's what your presentation (for better and for worse) left me wanting...was more.

Great job! This will be a hard battle!

@jdmdisney99

Overall, and we are internet friends, so don't take this the wrong way. This was lackluster for you. In every sense of the word.

I'll start with the positives:

Your soundtrack was VERY well done, from your choices of music to your show pacing and timing. Well edited, and careful choices were made (though, I could go into an IP snit about how you used LOTR...but I won't).

That's...about it.

The mehs...

I certainly noticed you took the time to put in crowd noises and fireworks noises into your soundtrack. I toyed with the idea (creating a few sample drafts) and found that it was more of a distraction unless the animation was lifelike (which there was NO way I was going to create the 25k images needed for 30 fps for my vid) so I dropped it.

You didn't. And, in my opinion only, you should have. While at some times it works (like your finale) more often than not it distracts from the music. Something that would be ok, assuming you had decent animation on the video itself, but you didn't. A few less of them would have been a good thing.

Overall, your video was a wonderful attempt, but...really showed one of your weaknesses. It was just stale and boring. I had to force myself to watch it all the way through, and even then it was only the soundtrack that dragged me through it all.

All that being said I find a two things amusing.

1) We both chose Chinese Theater as opposed to replacing Fantasmic, as both our competitors did...
2) We largely did similar concepts in that it was a tribute to the movies, though my choices were newer films, yours were classic and endearing

None of this should be construed to mean I didn't like your concept, I did. Just giving constructive critique...cause, well, I'm bored...

And, it's hard to compare what you did to what Red did...because...

----------------------

@MonorailRed

You took this hands down I bow at your feet.

That show was amazing (yeah, I know I got to see the video before all you did because of my "haxxor" talents and all that...

The map was ugly, and should have been left out.

Your intro is nice and all, but I had real trouble understanding how it would tie into yoru show. Yeah, I get the flying paper (and nice animation on that later on btw), but...some overlay text would have been better, rather than the slide style you used, so I understood the story AS I was watching it, not after the fact.

You still don't have that "standard image size" thing down yet do you. Hint...it's under "canvas properties" <wink> Though, this was far less jumpier than your previous one.

Gonna say again, as I rewatch this for commentary, I truly enjoyed the story you chose...but, I'm a Disnerd, as are we all, so...that's a given. But, what I can't understand is the jump to Frozen? How does that fit into your larger "story"? Walt had nothing to do with that piece of...er...box office smash.

The Lion King part was REALLY well done.

Why do you like browns so much? Even your night sky is greenish brown...

Mulan gets a win, and I nearly missed the dragon...but saw it on the third viewing (yeah, I'm bored, see?)

Ok, you included Oz (which I think is a wholly underrated movie myself)...only briefly, nice intro to Over the Rainbow choice.

I absolutely adored the ending.

So...all that being said, I'm going to have to search for my major criticism...and since none of us (the other competitors) addressed it, it may be the one the Judge nails you (or any of us) on...

How is it forward thinking for what HS is going to become?

--------------------------

I think we all turned out fantastic work considering the time allowed and the restrictions of the challenge.

This is gonna be a tough one folks!

<tips his hat to everyone>

It was actually going to fit… Time...You know?

It was kind of supposed to be set up with Wishes or WoC with different sets, should have explained it better, now that I look back at it… Plus I did the 5 sentences and the map on the fly and… yeah. :cyclops:

For future reference… Hopefully this makes more sense to everyone for my video?

I grew up with the Muppet Show.

There were only so many english TV shows in Germany...Muppet Show reruns and Star Trek were two of them.

They never really came back from that. The reboot in the late 80s/early 90s wasn't the same at all (though it did introduce Pepe the King Prawn...he's pretty much the only "new" character from it that survived the show to become a regular Muppet)...

I'd love to see them reboot the original show, in the original format (like they do in the movies). It was a lot of fun. But, Variety shows with celebrities have gone the way of the dodo.

I just saw this and I have to say - I miss Rizzo the Rat.

He wasn't in "The Muppets" officially to me. You kinda had the idea he might be there but, not totally?

I really wanted to hear something from him…. Don't know if he was in most wanted… But he was my favorite growing up!

I've struggled through 3 episodes of Muppets Tonight.

It's...not getting better.

Billy Crystal and Ms. Piggy doing the restaurant scene from When Harry met Sally.

Yes, that happened. It is a thing. What writer thought that would be:

a) A good idea
b) Remotely funny as a real sketch

That's all I need to say.

Oh my gosh :hilarious:
