Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Does anyone know when the new 2010 prices will come out, and when we will be able to book our trip in the fall of 2010? We are anxious to book as soon as possible. :p

They will typically come out some time in August. If you are booking a room only you can do that now and your quote and deposit will be based on current peak rates and adjusted (usually down) when the rates become official in August.

Thank You for the info!! We are going to be booking a package so I guess I will just have to wait till they come out. ;)

If you want to be sure of getting a particular room/resort type, book room-only as soon as you can and change it to a package when the prices are released. Although rare, it does occasionally happen that the place you want is no longer available to book once package prices are released.

The Contemp Tower rooms are an example, I once tried to book a package with MK view the day they announced them and the was no room at the inn.

What Monty said is quite true. Room only's can be booked as far out as 499 days. If you are looking for something quite particular (ie the aforementioned tower room) it is best to book a room only early and then convert to a package later. If what you are looking for is much more general say All star sports, Pop Century, Riverside, etc. you should not have any problem booking those when packages are released.

For those of us who don't plan on re-booking as a package when the 2010 rates are announced, will we still be notified of the locked in price, or is it up to us to call and find out?

And I just thought of something and I wonder if it is possible, or if has even happened on rare occasions; since, in order to convert to a package, they have to cancel your room only and then re-book it as a package, is it possible (even if only remotely possible) that once they cancel your room only, the lines can be busy enough that day that, in the time between cancelling and re-booking, other callers on other lines can snatch up all the rooms such that when your CM goes to re-assign it as a package, it's been taken by another caller by another CM? Is there some kind of safeguard coded into the software to keep such an occurence from happening? I ask, not because I'm really worried about it happening, but because it's an interesting scenario that I just happened to think of and I'm curious if it's a realistic possibility, and if so, if there are any known occurences of it ever happening. I know from previous experience when I was in college, and calling the automated system to sign up for my classes that similar things are possible in that context. I was once booked for an oceanography class, but called one evening to cancel it and pick a different class instead. That class was full, so I went back to pick the original oceanography course again and even in that 1 or 2 minute time frame, the lines were busy enough that the oceanography class was full when I went to "re-book" it.
