Don't worry, it's not too bad. I did merchandise in 2005, and I enjoyed it (in fact, I ended up extending that CP).

I applied on January 27th, and I still have not received anything in the mail. Those that have heard back, when did you apply? Also, a little off topic, but Im looking at a professional internship for the fall, and it says it starts in June, anyone know around what week in June it usually starts? Thanks.

My Professional Internship last Fall began on June 20th. It'll be around the same time this year - by looking at the calendar, I'd guess June 19th.
And I applied for the Summer Alumni Program a few days after I received the email about it and I received my letter about a week and a half ago.

I got my packet in the mail today. So those who are still waiting you should get yours soon too. I got my 3rd choice of "super greater with a broom" :p or Custodial.

Sorry, but I have another question for those that have done a Professional Internship (PI). As I have stated, I was accepted to do the Summer Program this year. I have also stated in another post part way up that I was thinking about a Professional Internship that I found posted. My question is, IF I was to accept the Summer Alumni Program, seeing they give us 2 weeks to accept, and I was to apply for the PI and possible get that too, is there anyway that I could do the PI instead of the Alumni Program? I know the deposit would be lost, but I was just wondering if being able to do the PI would be an option over the Alumni program if I was to get that position. Thanks.

Yep - you can do that. If you get the PI, you will just notify College Recruiting and let them know that you will be unable to participate in the Alumni Program. Like you said, you would just lose the Program Assessment Fee.

Congrats! When I did my program in 2005, one of my roommates was a lifeguard at the All-Star Resorts, and he really enjoyed it. :)

I was planning on doing the same thing as you. I applied for the Summer Alumni Program in January then got interested in applying for the PI . I actually heard from a friend that they don't like when you apply for both but I guess it's OK so maybe she was wrong.

Either way, I decided to pull my name out of the Summer Alumni Program this year to focus on the Professional Internship. If I don't get the PI, I plan on just staying seasonal at World Showcase Custodial and I'll try the Summer Alumni Program next year (I graduate College this year so I cant do any other CP or PI).

I would be happy if I got the PI, but I know it's harder to get a PI than then the CP. I just think it would be difficult to do another CP, only to come back home after. If I got the PI, My plan was to stay down there after but if I do the CP, I would have to come back home. (long story)

I actually heard from a friend that they don't like when you apply for both but I guess it's OK so maybe she was wrong.

I too asked a former campus rep that I use to do rep'ing with, and he too told me this (He works in management full time now). He said "I believe that if you were to accept the summer program, you would invalidate your Professional Internship applications. If that weren't the case, I think it would still look a bit suspicious." So, yeah, thats two people I have heard this from. I have also read on the PI site that they do get ALOT of applicants for the PI's, and for the one I was looking at they get 400 - 500 applicants a semester. So my guess is they are looking for people that match everything in the requirement section. I think I have decided to take the Summer Program and not try for the PI. Reason being, I found a more descriptive layout of the PI in the internship site, and I dont have good knowledge in a couple of the required tasks, so my guess is they will find someone more fit, and I dont want to lose out not working at all. But thats just me. :) Good luck on the PI application.

Some pointers that my friend gave me that I would like to share with you if you are still working on applying. "Make sure that you emphasize your Disney experience on your resume. Talk about the highlights of your College Program experience, any extra training you received, any classes you took and your Campus Rep experience (I was a rep). Positive points from here [disney] will serve you well." AGAIN GOOD LUCK! :)

Honestly, I think it is okay to accept the Summer Alumni program and then do the PI if they offer it to you. One of my good friends applied for a Fall CP and a PI. She accepted her CP and later got offered a PI and took it. She's currently working on her second PI and will be an Adventure Guide soon. I have a few other examples too. It is common practice. Although it may not be advertised as an option, many people do it.
