yea, their AP discounts suck! Universals are 100 times better, you get discounts at any restaurant and store at the parks

A company offers tons of discounts when they need to draw in lots of additional business. Disney obviously doesn't need to discount nearly as much in order to keep park attendance up. Don't get me wrong, I love Universal. I go there a couple of times per month, and my AP there has more than paid for itself in terms of discounts I have recieved. But the fact remains that while Universal has the second-most attended theme parks in Orlando (I'm grouping all of the WDW parks as number one, followed by both Universal parks and number two), it is a far distant second. They only exist because Disney is here, and they continue to have to use heavy discounting in order to siphon off guests from Disney for a day or two. Yeah, some people come here just to go to Universal. But percentage-wise that's a pretty small group.

I am bummed about he free lanard thing. We just got back and didn't know anything about it until the got the renewal info in the mail. We are not renewing, but taking a year of and then getting a new one in March 2005.

Too bad you can only pick them up a few days in Jan and Feb. Oh well they try to act like they are givng something free out, when it isn't that easy to get it.

I totally agree but when it comes down to it, Universals to me any ways are more appealing because of everything you get! but I do hope to get Disney annual passes in the next few years, just wish they didn't cost so much

Then I would say that Universal's discounts are working for them. If, at some point, those discounts (or any other efforts on the part of Universal) begin to be felt by Disney, then you'll see Disney increase their discount offerings.

I'm with you on the value of the Universal pass, by the way. I got my current pass back in August with a promotion that let me get a two year pass for the cost of one year. My Universal AP has already paid for itself, and I don't have to renew it until August of 2005. :D

I did the exact same thing, and my pass is completely paid for already, and mine also goes to Aug. 2005
