OPPPPPPSSSS My HUGE BAD when I posted this it was to say 20,000 Yikes my mistake everyone fat fingers typing on little key pads lol

I thought maybe the studio had a fight with the director about costs like on Lone Ranger, so they had to cut it back to 2,000 leagues... short trip!

Fun fact: a league is 3 miles, so 20,000 leagues is 60,000 miles. You can't go 60,000 miles under the ocean! You would end up somewhere in orbit on the other side of Earth! 20,000 leagues refers to the distance travelled around the world, not depth under the sea.

It should be a trilogy. A prequel to 20k, with the events of how Nemo gets to the point he is at, then the 20k movie, then Mysterious Island.
