Beginning on Monday, April 19, 2004, the demolition of the 20,000 Leagues site will begin. Walls will be going up on this date around the site and the removal of the structures and the lagoon will be following shortly. The area is to be landscaped until an announcement is made on the ride planned for the site. The rumors about a villians roller coaster (Fire Mountain) are still circulating.

At long last, we will finally see some progress after only 10 years.

Where do you get this information?

From what I hear, the Ariel's Grotto section will remain, with a filling of the lagoon and a replacement temporary Meet and Greet.

This initial work will just be site prep. Could be awhile until something actuall happens on the site...At least it's progress though.

My old college roommate works in the park management office for the MK.

I don't like the idea of Fire Mountain because we just have way too many mountains now at WDW. I'm hoping for some sort of Toon Town Extention. It could be made into sort of like the one in DL!:sohappy:

Walls'll be going up? :( 'Tis a pity, I would have liked to snap a few pics of the lagoon before they fill it in just about 1 1/2 weeks from now... But hey, at least they are finally going to be doing something with the lagoon, so that's good! :) And, as I've said before, it sure will be a pity if all we get is yet another, permanent, Meet 'n' Greet...

(a temporary one'll be fine, just so long as they demolish it in the not-so-distant future and build (a) really great attraction(s)...)

Finally what a waste of Space. They need something grand there. IN my opinion. What I dont know. I dont think a loud outdoor coaster should be put there. Its one of the more quieter spots in the park.

1½ weeks? The 19th is Monday. And the meet and greet may be the temporary addition, but this will be very expensive to demolish. Disney wouldn't do that just for a meet and greet. I'm sure an E-Ride is in the works for the next 5 years or so...although I'm skepticle of another mountain...

This is VERY good news. I hope Disney has something exciting in store for us. I've taken notice that MK has received a major E-ticket ride every decade since it's opened(SM-'75, BTMMR-'80, Splash Mountain-'92). This can only lead me to believe that we will be seeing an E-ticket ride in this space. Please let it be true....:D

Oh, I certainly hope so! :) But all indications now point to just a M'n'G, albeit a temporary one... :(

CMs are reporting that an 'E-ticket' is in the works scheduled for a ten-year plan. . . but until then, the area would be a Meet and Greet.

LEE?? CORRUS?? :D

The only thing that worries me is all the repeating threads that are about to explode on this site with speculation until, or if, we receive an official announcement. :lookaroun

Yeah, I hear that.....
What it is, I don't know. The same old rumors are all I hear.
Villian ride? New 20K? I'll turn up the juice and see what shakes loose.

If this turns out to be true...then YAY!!! Its about time!

But...that being said, I doubt we'll see a coaster in this area...maybe some other type of attraction based on the "villains" theme...lets see what happens...

:D
