The Old Lagoon site should be used as an expansion of Fantasyland. This would be as in a couple new Dark Rides, Storybookland and maybe some flat rides. I don't think other things would fit. Nothing tall can be built there because of the castle and Fantasyland, although popular is the worst of all the Fantasylands currently open.

If I remember correctly from a June or July edition of Eyes and Ears, the north or east wall of the show building will remain as a retaining wall. Before I left at the beginning of August, parts of the the show building were being removed. Also, there will be a birm forming an outline of the old lagoon. No plans have been announced yet as to what the land could be used for, but at a MK Council meeting, Phil Holmes said that they would have enough space for 3 seperate E-ticket attractions.

Let's just bring all of Mysterious Island from TDS instead of just 20K.

I haven't been able to confirm this yet, so don't hold me to it, but....
I got an e-mail last week from a pretty decent source saying that Mount Prometheus, complete with Journey to the Center of the Earth, may well be on it's way to WDW...but not at MK. :animwink:

Is it the Animal Kingdom rumor?

Yep.
And let me clarify...
I have heard this as a rumor for weeks now, but this recent message was the first time I heard it from someone who would be in a position to know what is being talked about.
Nothing greenlit...but talked about for opening as soon as 2008/2009 as part of AK's 10th anniversary.

At least that's what I hear. Still trying to confirm it.

The AK's gonna be one heck of a place after Everest and a possible Mt. Prometheus. And what a mountain range! Eat your heart out Magic Kingdom.

And to counter the mountains being built in The Animal Kingdom, the Magic Kingdom will fight back to make sure the world knows that it dominates in the world of Disney Mountains when they announce the building of the new Villian Land jutting out of Fantasyland in the old 20K Lagoon area, complete with a nice dark ride, an Ursula themed Dumbo ride, and the grand daddy of all E-Tickets, the infamous Bald Mountain water coaster, complete with the biggest drop in Disney History (or at least it would have been before Everest, i dont remember the planned height)

If only we ran the company, right?

Lee, your news has made my day!!! :D :D :D
(Hmmm that's kind of sad now that I've read that back to myself)
Thanks for the info!!! Hope it gets greenlit!!!

Well, with the demolition near completion, I've thought of an idea for a slideshow video of thedestruction of the lagoon set to really sad music. I'm thinking the music from Godzilla's Meltdown in Godzilla VS Destroyah as one of the most touching pieces of music I've heard. Here's a sound clip of it, taken from the film, with japanese dialogue still present along with Godzilla's death cries: http://www.godzillatemple.com/hidden/gdeath.wav . I have the music at home without the extra noise and I can work on it, but I need as much pictures of the demolition that I can get for this tribute.

How about a 3 story parking garage for strollers? Throw in a nice meet and greet if you wish. :-)

As far as the Mt Prometheus rumor for AK, while I'm a big fan of thrill rides and would love to see JTTCE in the US, I really think AK needs more family rides. At this point, they need several dark rides and other things that don't jostle you around. Other than the Dumbo clone, there really isn't any other rides there that don't jostle you around or drop you.

I wish I remebered what a ride on 20,000 League's was like :( I kind of remember being in the sub, though I don't remember what it was really like to look out one of the portholes.

Time to download a video LOL.

You know. Journey and 20k japan version aren't very intense. I could see kids riding them. The may not be small world but they aren't anything major. The only worry I would think would be the drop on Journey. However, that drop isn't even needed due to Everest and Test Track.

Screamscape posted a rumor about JTTCOE coming to AK about a month ago. If I recall, it sparked a debate on this board about whether or not it fit the theme of AK. Regardless, it looks like Lee's rumor is confirming the Screamscape rumor. If you go to Screamscape, I think the rumor is still up there on the WDW page.

BTW, at the same time as the Screamscape rumor, Jim Hill posted an article about the scrapped plans for a version of JTTCOE at the MGM backlot, along with photos of a concept model. It was completely different from the TDS version, but it shows how somebody at WDW has been trying to build a JTTCOE attraction for a long time.

If this holds true, AK's mountain range will certainly rival MK's. Can't wait to see what MK does with the 20K lagoon to counter Mt. Prometheus and Everest!
