2 Resort questions

We will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside in December. I did see posted here that I should wait until a week or so before arrival to request a specific room or building. This will be our first time at Riverside, so I'm not at all familiar with the layout.

I do know that we will definitely be in Alligator Bayou, because we need the trundle bed. I had asked a few questions when I made the reservation, but was told that since I was using an AP discount I couldn't request specifics as that would over-ride the discount code. :veryconfu

Anyone have any advice or suggestions ? I'd like to be as close to the bus stop as possible since I have a 4 year old. The smoking optional building would be fine for us, but not necessary either.

The other factor, and any unofficial CM advice would REALLY be appreciated here, we will be staying there the same time Pop Warner is also. ( I know, I know, but we can't change our plans now. :brick: ) I'm hoping that they will be in the Mansion buildings, but if anyone knows for certain please share !

Hi Rosebud's Mom!!! As you know I will be at the same resort as you!!! That is nonsense putting in a preference for a room, smoking or non etc will definitely NOT override the passholder codes!!!!! Check out the map listed on our friend Deb Wills' site here:

The bus stops at Riverside are layed out similar to CB. The main stop is at the front of the resort, there are other various stops space around the resort, just outside of the parking lots. So no matter where your room is, you will still be close to a bus stop. The only issue you might have, is being on the other side of the lake from the food court/lobby area. But you can cut thru the island in the center of the lake so it won't really be that bad.

I attached a link to a map, the resort layout looks bigger than it really is. The walk from building 35 to the main building for me only took 2-3 minutes. So its really not that bad.

Thanks guys ! The links were really helpful. And Belle, at least we can meet and avoid those cheerleaders in the lounge ! I hear the Blackened Voodoo lager is a must try !

I'll be arrivinig sometime Saturday, but I don't think I'll be at the dinner. If you find out your room before you leave, pm me and I'll do the same ! Otherwise, I'll look for you in the lounge. ( from your pictures you look a LOT like my cousin so I'll be sure to spot you !)

I doubt I will know my room number before I get there, although if I can find out where all the Pop Warner kids are staying Ill be on the opposite end of the resort!!!!!! Of course i can also just give you my cell phone and you can buzz me when you get settled or I can give you my last name and just ask the switchboard for my room & Leave me a message!!! I dont usually carry my cell with me in the parks unless I REALLY need to!!!!!!!!! Im sure we will find a way to find each other!! Belle

Actually yes! I have an Annual Pass. I got my e-mail notification from WDW this week about the AP discounts. So I'm gonna take advantage of the AP rates.

Thanks!! But I'm still upset I have to wait a whole 2 1/2 months till I can go. :brick:

The regular discounts for November ended 10/10/04 I believe. Discounts for AP holders may still be available. The Code for that time frame is EWP for the Passholder discounts only!! Always check in with us kind folks here on the boards as we do keep up with these things!!!! Most notably Pam of KingdomKonsultant (Our travel sponsor on the boards) is especially good at giving the codes as soon as they are published by Disney!!!! Belle

Usually I'm on top of the AP deals, but since I wasn't planning on going in Nov, I deleted the e-mail with the codes. I'll check to see what AP deals I can get.
