2 quick questions

Hi everyone,
I'm heading to Disney World soon and I was wondering if someone could help me out by answering these questions.
1. Are the food trucks in Downtown Disney there permanently? We were thinking of grabbing lunch from one of them but I wasn't sure if they were always there.
2. We have the quick service dining plan. Can one person stand in line and order the food for the 2 of us or do we both need to be there with our Magic Bands? Usually we divide and conquer - one gets the food, one finds the seats.

Thanks for the help!

Answers:

(1) I haven't been to DTD since they add the food trucks, so I cannot answer that part.
(2) Yes. One can order and one can go find a seat at a table, taking the kids with them. They only care, at least in my experience, about the number of allotments you have available. Otherwise, every kid over the age of 9 would have to stand in line to order their meal....

Speaking of kids...one thing to remember about the dining plan is that, at least in theory, if you have kids on a children's dining plan, they are expected to only order on a kids' menu, if one is available at that restaurant (which at this point most of them do). So if you order 3 adult menus, and then tell the cashier to mark it as 2 adult and one child menus...they might not care. But they might tell you it'll have to be considered 3 adult meals.

The food truck hours vary almost daily. There will typically be at least 1 operating between midday and 9pm. On some days, one or more may open earlier, and also remain open until 10pm.

So really, your best bet is to aim for evenings. Between 5pm and 9pm should be a sure bet.

We noticed on our recent trip that CM were not allowing people to sit without already having their food, not all restaurants were doing this so keep that in mind.
The taco truck has some of the best tacos I have ever had... so good!

You actually don't need to tell the cashier to mark it as adult and children meals. The system doesn't differentiate between adult and child quick service meals.

Thank you! We'll look into maybe getting dinner from a truck instead of lunch.

They need to let the cashiers at Pop know this little gem. One poor mom had to put food back and get different food because the cashier wouldn't budge. Not sure if it was the cashier or the system....but I felt bad for the mom. The CM was less than nice about the whole thing.

The CM was correct. You are supposed to get kids meals for the kids if the location has them. The system does not care, however.

Well, that certainly makes sense to me especially since the cost of the kids dining plan is less than the adults. We just jumped to a different line...but it was obvious from the CM's conversation that a lot of people were just ordering adult meals. We don't do the dining plan and our kids are over 9 so it doesn't impact us. BUT...at the food court both the girls and myself ordered some of the kids meals instead of the adult meals because when its hot I don't want a big meal. So that part is nice...being able to order off the kids meal at quick service even if you are over 9.
