1st time in a value...Should I be scared?

I have stayed in most on site disney hotels. The only ones I have not visited yet is The Animal Kingdom Lodge, The Contemporary or any of the Value's. Our funds are limited this year, but my wife is determined to go. I'm sure it will be a cultured shock when compared to the other hotels. But will it really be all that horrible.

Also I was wondering of the value's which one should I try.

I trust what comes out of a 6 year old a lot more than I trust what comes out of 3 people that are completely drunk and obviously live their lives in such a fashion that relieving themselves in a public pool at Disney is acceptable. Yep.

I've NO idea where those three guys' bizness has been.

3 grown men in disneyworld alone? My guess is their bizness was in each other or no one at all since hooking up on a business trip in disney isn't exactly a target rich environment.

Obviously, some Disney properties are better than others. However, you still get to stay on Disney property.

Tru dat. I would have readily traded my two bedroom, kitchen equiped, marble trimmed off-property condo that I had in Dec. for an on-property double-bed room at a value resort. I'd do it every time.

If you're comfortable in a Motel 6 or Super 8, then you'll be just fine.
Values are $29.00 motels wrapped up in $89.00 clothes.

I've only visited one once when some friends of ours were staying there and it was nothing special, noisy as all get out.

I personally would never stay at a value, but lots of people love them.

That's just one mans opinion, I could be wrong.

I would agree they are little more than Motel 6's in terms of the room. The biggest issue I had with them was the lack of service. Checking in can take a very long time. Getting any type of service once you are checked in is also a problem. I will say they were cleaner than a Motel 6.

But considering the cost of them I think I would consider staying off-site and renting a car. Sure you have some added costs for the car and parking (unless you join AAA), but you will avoid the biggest complaint about the values and that is the shoddy bus service.

Or you can drive your own car to WDW, still stay in value, take advantage of the EMH, save the $10 a day it costs for parking, and since you have your own car, you can also avoid the shoddy bus service.

We (six adults and two children) stayed at a Thousand Trails campground in my aunt and uncle's camper every summer when I was little. I have stayed at my parent's time share (Vacation Village on Int Drive), at a questionable Ho Jo near IHOP, and this year at Pop Century. I can honestly say that the quality of my sleeping conditions played very little role in my enjoyment of my time at WDW. If all you want is a place to sleep and shower, then I don't see the point in forking over the extra cash for a Moderate or Deluxe, but to each his/her own. I think if I had children and I knew we would be spending afternoons and early evenings back at the hotel resting, enjoying the pool, I might want to upgrade, but really the Values are quite nice and with ME, the bus service and EMH privileges the Values serve their purpose and then some...

ENJOY!

Here's my 2 cents....Our family of 4 which consisted of DH, DW, DS14 and DS5 stayed at the POP this past October. We had two beds and brought a full size air mattress which fit perfectly at the end of the beds once the table was moved. I'd say the biggest drawback is only having one toilet. Baths, not a problem. Brushing teeth, generally getting ready, no problem. BUT, if more than one of us was in need of relieving themselves, you either toughed it out or had to go to the lobby. The only reason we stayed on site was to experience the free dining plan. Normally, we stay at a rental home in Lindfields and definitely missed the extra room. The experience of dining at restaurants that we normally passed on made up for it.

My suggestion is, if you can't afford staying at what your used to on site, and have transportation, check into staying offsite. The villa we stay in is 3 bedroom, 2 bath, full kitchen, living room, inground pool, and game room with pool table, foosball, air hockey, big screen tv which is INSIDE the home, not in the garage. It's near several restaraunts and approx. 10 minutes from Disney.

POP was a cool hotel. Interesting things to look at, and if you buy a mug, unlimited froze coke refills! Excellent food court, convenient to most of the rooms(if you don't mind walking). If you have to go with a value, I'd suggest POP if you have kids.

I have to agree with those saying to look into off-site options - for the same money you can get a much nicer room, or for less money get a comparable one.

I stayed at AS Movies, and had a great visit. But, I don't spend any of my time at the resort other than sleeping and eating breakfast. We had no problem with noise and we were right next to the Fantasia and Kiddie pools.

If you go in with open and realistic expectations that the Value Resorts are NOT a Moderate or Deluxe you should be fine. Although, I would definitely recommend the preferred rooms.

Have a great trip!

I am leaning towards pop right now. It is my understanding from the reviews I have read it was improved over the All Stars...which makes sense due to the newness of it...learn from their mistakes.

I expect the noise levels to be a tad bit higher, just cause I expect there to be quite a large number of kids running around. It seems it would be the more affordable hotel for familes.

Af far as cleanliness...I expect it to be fairly clean being that it is on Disney property. I think those that complain about that are probably looking for the smallest detail to complain about.

My friend stayed at the pop and when I visited him and his family it was so noisy the walls are paper thin,it's just a glorfied motel 6

I really don't think they're that bad. Honestly, we don't spend too much time in our room anyway, so it's not that big of a deal. If you've ever stayed at Holiday Inn or something along those lines, it's basically that, but a lot more decorative. And as for being noisy, we stayed at the All Star Sports, but weren't by the pool, so it really wasn't loud at all. I don't know how it is by the pool though.

 We stayed at POP last 2 times. Its a nice clean place, good food court, wonderful pools, good bus service. Yes, theres noise all around cause they get more kids. If you are talking about hearing others flush toilets, we heard that a lot at POR too. the atmosphere is much quieter there, however. If you just go to the room to clean up and sleep a little, then POP is the one!!:sohappy:

I'm not convince that EMH is worth it. Maybe some folks see the value in it but it depends on the time you visit. In the summer we made use of the EMHs quite a bit, in December it was pretty much unused. We only used it when it related to MK and I got the feeling the EMHs were less at MK because of Mickey's Christmas Party.

I think I would still stay off-site and if there was one day I wanted the EMH for a particular park then I would book a room in the cheapest resort in the cheapest room possible on the day I needed the EMH and have the best of both worlds. EMH that I wanted and a off-site room that was nicer.

Nothing wrong with Value

There is nothing wrong with the value resorts. I actually prefer it. That way you have more money to spend on souviners and food. And maybe even staying longer. I have stayed in The All-Star Music and I'm going to The All-Star Movies this year. I thought ASM was great. It's not like you want to spend all day in your room. I'd rather be in the parks.

I don't think this is necassarily true. I wouldn't compare a Motel 6 to Pop Century. With all the theming, the fun pools and large disney statues, it is waaay better.

There is nothing to worry about and I would def. go with Pop. It's really clean as everyone already said, and yes it's a bit smaller but it's comfortable.

Think positive and enjoy your time there!
Agreed. I don't think it's quite like Motel 6. To me, it's more like a Comfort Inn. And most people stay in these quite comfortably.

It just depends...I've stayed in the Luxury Suites in Jamaica and the Comfort Inns here in my hometown. Were the Luxury Suites any different to me than the Comfort Inns here? Not really. Sure, I had 2 bathrooms and a "living room" in Jamaica, but I'm never in my room that much to warrant needing all that space. Sure, it's nice to have, but it's not a necessity.

I agree 110%. I spent 10 days @ WDW at POP last year as opposed to the 5 or 6 that i would be able to afford at a Moderate resort. I had no issues with my room (I requested a King room), and all i really did was sleep/bathe there. Absolutely nothing wrong with a value!

I have stayed in all 3 types of resorts. And to be honest with you I find the Value resorts much better then the really expensive ones.. For the simple fact there smaller and you really are not in the hotel much only to what sleep and swim? so I would say your going to have a great time bc your in WDW and dont let the room size both you its seriously not that bad...

Don't stay off-site! It's just not the same, no matter how nice the hotel is. If you're a big enough Disney fan to be on this site, you won't be happy anywhere else!

I have never had trouble with the bus service actually at Pop. And the only time I had trouble with bus service was going from DTD back to Pop. But it wasn't just for Pop that I've had trouble with the bus service to or from DTD.
