What types of food do you prefer? Are you looking for a "regular" table service meal or more interested in the "signature" restaurants? Knowing these things will help folks to give you better recommendations. Just off the top of my head, 5 of my favorite TS locations would be (in no particular order):

Jiko
Narcoosse's
Brown Derby
California Grill (hopefully just as good after their finish with their major refurb)
Le Cellier

Oh wow! First off, welcome to the family! ;) Haha!
There are so many great restaurants at WDW. My first piece of advice is: be willing to try something new!
my second: BOOK ALL YOUR ADRS 180 DAYS OUT! (or as soon as you can!)
EPCOT probably has the best ones (park wise) and you could eat just about anything you could imagine. The Disney website has the full listings of each restaurant with all the menus, so pick a country you would like to try. My personal favorites are:
Les chefs de France
Nine dragons
Teppan edo

If you can, you can always try for Cinderella's Royal Table. This is a dining experience you don't want to miss (especially if you are taking children who love princesses). Plus you get to eat in the castle, which is cool by itself. (Remember the 180 advice? Yeah, CRT sells out in minutes and it is very hard, but not impossible, to get an ADR after that.)
Another place, outside of the parks, I like is 1900 park fare at the Grand Floridian. This is also a character meal with breakfast and lunch available. Really tasty and fun!
And there are always really good counter service places in all the parks!
Hope this helps! Have fun planning your trip! ;)

Welcome to the magic site..South Devon..Babbacombe..Torquay..Awesome beaches..So to your questions..Thats the million $$$$$$ Question..Everyone has their favourite ones. But TS restaurants like Cali Grill..Jiko..House of Blues..Via Napoli ( best pizza on site ) are some of my favourites..Note down your favourite cuisines and start planning..Don't forget your 180 day window for your ADRS.;)

Hello and welcome! As far as signature restaurants go, we like Jiko, Yachtsman Steakhouse and Le Cellier. For table service, we go with Crystal Palace in MK. I also enjoyed Brown Derby over at HS. Can't give you any help at AK, we always go with Flame Tree Barbecue which is quick service. Epcot will give you many choices with World Showcase. The more adventuresome you are, the more choices are out there. The best tip I can give (and this comes from having a very picky husband) is to make sure you check out the menus on line so that you know exactly what is being offered.

Rose & Crown is one of our favorites, not to be missed for us.

We did the Hoop Dee Doo Revue show and we all enjoyed it. Good food, and the show was funny, if corny.

I agree with the above poster in checking menus on line. We always do that, too. My hubby is quite picky as well, and my son has type 1 diabetes. On that note, I so appreciated being visited by the chef at each TS restaurant to discuss how the dishes my son was interested in were prepared.

A most magical of welcomes. I'd say for a first time visit hit the classics. Crystal Palace for any meal, Chef Mickey's for the fab 5, Hollywood Brown Derby and try and get a Fantasmic package for there. My favorite new place Be Our Guest. Stay away from Hollywood and Vile and Sci-Fi. Don't over look counter service places as some of them are EXCELLENT! Tangerine Café, Sunshine Seasons, Les Hailles (more for a snack) Kringla Bakery, Flame tree BBQ Pecos Bill's has the best topping bar for burgers, Cosmic Rays has quite the selection a topping bar and Sunny Eclipse. So for a first trip try a bit if everything and enjoy.

We did not like Sci-Fi because the service was slow the food was cold the beer was warm and they sent out my ds' lunch with something he was allergic to right on the plate after we spoke to the chef about his allergies.
