We have some solid initial ideas - but since we have over a dozen folks with us it'd be good to hear everyone's thoughts first.

Also given this is due Wednesday I think having a solid concept by tomorrow night would be ideal, Sunday at the latest. After that it should be easy to get it all done with so many folks.

I'll offer up basically anything; writing, drawing, even if you want me to just sit in the corner and watch Chicken Little, whatever the team needs.

Agreed... I’m up for pretty much anything too... especially watching Chicken Little in a corner

We could also just pick a place like Virginia where Disney's America was supposed to go, or get inspired by Pi's Kansas location, or any of the other American locales that are unique to blue sky ideas on the forum

Back on the topic of a possible location (if we want a location at all instead of just vague blue sky). Something like Kansas, Texas, and Virginia would be an easy way to go. We wouldn't need to worry much about a distinct culture, and it would encourage us to design a really unique park to stand out from the other US parks. This kind of angle is usually my favorite for dream parks.

Another idea would be to lean into the alternate history (I love making new timelines!). A big part of why Euro Disneyland didn't work originally is that France didn't want it. That park's opening wasn't too far off from 1986. We could do EuroDisney right by picking another country. Possibly Germany with a Duckburg inspired Main street to tie into their love of the comics.

I'm a little scared that rewatching Chicken Little will pop my nostalgia bubble around it. It's been a while since I've seen it lol. But other than that I'll do anything!

And yeah, waiting for other players before we do too much might help.

I'm a big fan of the alternate timeline concept - anything really to enable us to utilize the 'blue sky' concept to the fullest potential.

Okay, here’s a random idea for location:

What if we actually built this in Marceline, Missouri? :D

That would absolutely force us to do something new with Main Street! Realistically, nearby cities like St. Louis or Chicago (Walt’s birthplace) would be our market. And working around the Missouri winters would be an interesting design challenge.

Ok here me out this will sound terrible but when else other than the 80s can we do...

It is 1986, in the dying days of the Cold War, and Mikhail Gorbachev has just been appointed General Secretary of the Soviet Union. Alongside the Reagan Administration Gorbachev has worked to integrate the booming West with the fading East. As such he turns to Disney for Disneyland Moscow, a Disneyland for the East.

Think of the memes... Main Street U.S.S.R!

These are the kind of weird ideas I love to see!

And also like was alluded to before, if we pick a location, that is going to be where we are for the rest of the competition. Maybe that's a decision that should happen more organically as we evolve our resort rather than something that has to be decided immediately and then we're stuck with it.
Yeah that’s the question... comes back to what I said earlier... if we do something crazy bold, that’s sorta the theme we’re with for the entire competition. If we do something more conservative and maybe easier to bridge between different lands (like Paradise Pier theme or something like that), then we’re not necessarily stuck with a theme yet.
It’s really interesting of course because it was wayyyy easier to take risks in SYWTBAI when it was one-offs, but I really like the idea of building on something, but there is an inherent risk that the theme we choose early is the one we’re staying with.
