looks like u got some pics of old monorail red thats sitting in someones yard. it may not have been by 82 when they all got 6 cars, but by time they were replaced in early 90's all trains had 6 cars. they did have ac, even though the windows on the doors did pop open. if u look at the mark iv they have the same design between the cars, that is where the ac units are. i fondly recall riding yellow during its last month or so of serivce & thinking i was glad it was being repalced as its ac barely worked. disney knew better than trying to put 240 people in a monorail with no ac in the fl heat especially on the epcot beam.
i cant recall the web page, but it has been noted many times the original trains only had 5 cars. when wdw realized this wasnt enough capacity they added the 6th car to those trains along with all the newer mark iv's having 6 cars. if we think about it the monorail barn does not have 12 beams, only 11, 10 for trains & one for the "service tractor". the reason for that is wdw did not expect to have 12 trains when the barn was built.
now if i still had the mark iv training manual im sure i could point out a few more fun things about them.
just got of the phone with monorial service shop at wdw. actually got a cm that was there when the mark iv trains were in service. yes all trains had 6 cars, they did have ac, 2 units per car plus one for each "cab".
