1986 - House of the Future (Week Five)

I'm personally not a fan of setting it on an alien planet, mainly just because I feel like at that point, we have to explain some things, and we all know what happens when we have any sort of backstory...

I also think we should try to keep it a bit more realistic than too sci-fi. I'd love a spiritual successor to Living With the Land and Horizons, focusing on what humans can do when we work against human nature to expand and instead work with the planet

Yea, good point there. It would be easier since Horizons is based on earth.

Even with it's futuristic technology and space stations, it was a depiction of an "achievable" future of 2086.

I think ours should reflect the future of 2120 or 2130.

I heard Sci-Fi Western Tomorrowland and this bad concept art instantly came to mind. I honestly don’t know why I ever made this...

A good idea, but I worry that Man vs Society would be too close to modern political issues today, which in my humble opinion, don't belong in a theme park.

Not saying it's a bad idea, just I would rather this be more reflective on Man's progress.

Good idea nevertheless
The man vs (enter here) is just the literary device of conflict, it doesn't necessarily have to be traditional conflict. Using Man's progress is technically Man vs. Technology or Man vs Society. It's man going against some pre-established rule or device, then it's man vs.

So man developing a green world and getting rid of less green energies, is a Man vs Society topic. It's us going against our current societal conventions within our society and growing

I see your point. Your original idea just seemed a bit political at first, but I understand your point now. Carry on!

I’m glad you are as excited about it as I was when I made it. I’d be down for it but depending on what direction we’re going, it would stick out like a sore thumb.
Not necessarily....

If I recall correctly, the Mandalorian visited the planet with the blue shrimp and the invaders. We could have it there themed to protecting the peaceful village. It wouldn't look cowboy that way.

I feel like Mandalorian wouldn't fit in an Epcot style Utopian Green Tomorrowland. So, if we don't go for space cowboy or soemthing like that, I think Mandalorian should be saved for a future round. Using the IP with the seaport theme feels like it would be a disadvantage both to the Mando and to the land.

Having one ride in the Utopia with X-S Tech (or a similar fictional company) showing the dark side progress and abusing the high tech stuff we're discussing could be a really interesting way to add a slight bit of thrill and enrich the thematic meaning of our land by exploring the core theme from a different angle. But with green/utopia/epcot/progress city Tomorrowland going too far into the dark side might clash. But 1 ride could be good.

Radical idea... but kids these days don't get excited by Cowboys. At least not the same way they did in the 50s. But ya know what place they do like?

Change Frontierland to Galaxyland.

(This would have no impact on Green Tomorrowland, I'm just thinking about future prompts)
