friend of mine just gave me a map of EPCOT CENTER from when he went there as a kid. He said he had saved it for years and went when it first opened, since then the map has been in box for years, he also said it came with a book that when he finds he'll give to me. I was blown away by the map.......he said he would rather me have it because he knows how big of a fan i am.....I'm thinking I'm going to have it professionally framed and hang it in my game room, plus i hope it preserves it. if anyone knows anything about it please let me know.....it's pretty cool because there are pavilions listed as coming soon like Africa that obviously never got built. here's the link:

WOW! That is so cool! Nice find. And what a nice friend to let you have it. That was very cool to look at it. I think framing it is a great idea. It will definitely preserve it better than filing it in an envelope or something that could get bent.

Thanks for sharing!

Very cool! I love all the crazy colors.

I just listened to a WDWRadio podcast on "lost" WS pavilions and the description of Equatorial Africa would've been really cool... Here's hoping for future expansion!

I have one of those original 1982 Epcot poster-sized maps as well, and 3 different ones from the MK (including the 1971 original like the one on display in Walt Disney: One Man's Dream), and 2 from Disneyland.

I really wish WDW still made the poster-sized maps for the parks. I'd buy 'em! :)

Custom framing gets pretty expensive, but well worth it to preserve it. Make sure you get Museum Quality Glass to protect it from light/UV rays that will keep it from fading.

I just bought a poster size map of Disneyland back in December, but I guess all that Disney World does anymore are the Customizable Maps (which i think are amazing btw...espcially the one of the entire resort).

I have the Magic Kingdom counterpart for that map, and I have eBay set up to notify me when an Epcot version popps up---you've got a lucky find there! There was one on eBay last week that I was bidding on and it went for about $120.

The detail on those maps is awesome. My Magic Kingdom one isn't framed, but stowed safely. If I ever got an Epcot one (hint hint to those of you who said they have 2!), I'd frame them both and hang them!

My parents have 2 unused tickets from the opening year of EPCOT Center, nice big amazing commemorative versions. Next time I'm home, I'm forcing them to dig them out of whatever drawer they are in and framing them. They are too amazing to have in a drawer somewhere. I have no idea if they are worth anything, but I'd have them hanging on my wall in a heartbeat!

I used to have this map too. My dad trashed it with allot of other original Epcot Center stuff I got in March of 1983. He thought I didn't want it anymore because I was in collage. I am on a hunt to get another one. I have a smaller version of it to frame, but I will most likely sell that when I get the original bigger one.
