1900 Park Fare Refurb?

We'll be dining at the buffet at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian in September. I heard from someone that it's currently going through a refurb? Can anyone else confirm this and if so has it re-opened yet? I already had to change one dinner reservation due to Teppanyaki not being ready in time, I don't feel like having to do it twice! :hammer:

Your character meal will take place in the Grand Floridian Cafe. It will be pre-plated and not a buffet, but the characters will be the same.

1900 Park Fare's refurb is from July 9th through October 1st. I don't know what there doing but I hope it opens earlier (I'm going on the 21st).

Thanks for the reply but how did you find this out? I can't find any info about the closing let alone anything about it being a pre-plated meal anywhere. Will the meal then be whatever the Cafe serves for dinner?

I found this out when I booked the reservation and the person on the phone told us that. The rehab date has been on allearsnet.com for awhile. As for food the Cafe usually has a menu, so my guess is that they've just come up with something quick to put on a plate, like Ohana's breakfast or Liberty Tree Tavern's dinner.

Right you are sir. I just called and was told the same thing. Actually, she told me that after she said first that it was gonna be the same buffet style food, just in a different location. To which I said, "Are you sure? I'm hearing that it's gonna be a pre-plate meal." She goes, "Oh well let me check to make sure.... Uh, that's right." :hammer:She then read the menu to me and it's exactly what the Cafe has on their menu. What do you think? Is it good? My wife really wants to see Cinderella but I'm thinking of changing the reservation to either Liberty Tree or Crystal Palace for their character meals.

We had breakfast there this morning and it was a wonderful buffet. The waitress told us it was the first day with the new menu. I don't know about any refurb plans, but everything seemed perfect to us!

I've heard a lot of 1900 Park Fare rumors...but the one I've heard the most is that along with Cinderella and Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine and the Stepsisters will be making regular appearances.

So you ate IN 1900 Park Fare or Grand Floridian Cafe?

No clue! I didn't know about this refurb stuff and didn't know to ask! I can tell you that the restaurant was on the end of the building that is near the Monorail, but not on the same floor. As we walked in, there was a hostess station on the left of the hall and bathrooms to the right. Past the bathrooms was the entrance to the restaurant. It was a lovely place!

I really think it was Park Fare. I just googled some pictures and that's what it looked like. And it was a very large buffet and no plated food at all.

They had a special invitation-only test run on Friday. We had invitations to go (my girlfriend works in the Garden View Tea Room) however we RSVP'd too late and were put on a wait list. Nobody was cancelling so we did not get to eat there. However I know this is part of their "soft opening" so to speak, so I would assume they should be opening very soon if not already.

Well after all the confusion, it turns out we ending up eating at the newly refurbished 1900 Park Fare after all! It had re-opened the day before we got to Disney! That's what I call good luck. Anyway the buffet was excellent - so much great food (carving center of prime rib, asian stir fry, pastas, ice cream station.. you name it.) And Cinderella and particularly her mean step sisters were terriffic. They kept us laughing the whole time.
