Next week we will be dining at a few new places. We are habitual diners, making ADR's at the same places each trip, so I try to throw in a few news ones now and then. We have a 2 year old DD, so I decided on this trip to make ADR's for 1900 Park Fare for dinner and the Princess Storybook dinner at Akershus. Anyone like or dislike these and why? Thanks! :D

I don't know about dinner for 1900 Park Fare, but my party did highly enjoy breakfast there. Made-to-order omlettes were very tasty. In fact, we talk about that breakfast still...

Also, seeing Mary Poppins, Alice, the Mad Hatter...the character interaction was fabulous. Mad Hatter was the funniest (very sarcastic) of them all--fabulous interaction.

We recently did breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. The food was good, and the opportunity to meet some of the lesser-seen characters was fun for all. I don't know how the dinner is there.

As for Akershus, keep in mind that this is only one family's opinion, but we all abhorred the dinner food there. The kids and I are picky eaters, but DH is quite adventurous with cuisine, and we were all in agreement. That said, we are glad we went because the opportunity to interact with so many princesses at once was a dream come true for our little ones. I've heard that the breakfast is better there and you still get the princess interaction. Just a thought.

I've had a regular dinner at Akerhus, and a princess breakfast. I can say the latter meal was the better one for the kids. Not that I minded the cuisine, but the breakfast meal had more traditional fare. That being said, the dinner still offers some more kid-friendly options such as pizza, ravioli and hot dogs.

We did dinner at 1900 Park last August and it was great. My 9 year old DD loved it. It's one of the few places to meet Prince Charming, and Anastasia and Drizella are hysterical. Food good, too.

We did Akershus a few years ago, but for breakfast. We liked it. Food was good, and you get to see a variety of the "newer" Princesses, like Mulan and Jasmine.

All in all, 2 great choices that I think you will enjoy.

We've been to 1900 Park Fare for dinner several times. Each time it was wonderful!

Prince Charming, the Stepmother and Stepsisters are not to be missed! Plus a few little "extras" they throw in- like a dancing time- make for a fun meal!

The food is buffet style (I'm sure you knew that, but just in case) and is really good. The kids buffet is standard Disney kids buffet - pizza, nuggets, corn, mac and cheese, etc.

Service has always been awesome. I can't remember his name off the top of my head, but we always request a server who has been there since the Grand Floridian opened (and with Disney since 1978!) He's a great guy - I'll have to ask DH what his name is.

Thanks guys for all the feedback! My DD is only 2, so I'll admit that I made these ADR's selfishly so I could get some adorable pics with her and the princesses! And to try new places, of course :D ! She's more into Pixar characters then princesses at this age, but she still gets excited to see them. She's not picky about her food at all either, so different types of food will probably go over well. She's weird, like, she actually devours things like tomatos, beets, olives, lima beans....I know, weird, huh?

I'm sure we will have a blast! 3 more days til we are eating our way around World Showcase our first night!!

Akershus is not THAT weird - really.

OK, so they have pickled herring on the buffet. I grew up eating pickled herring, so I guess I am not a good judge of what is weird. However, Akershus, as with almost all WDW restaurants offers 'safe' versions of various foods. No lutefisk in Norway or blue trout in Germany. Give it a whirl, you may find a new cuisine that is to your liking.

Does Cinderella appear at the 1900 Park Fare for dinner:shrug:

No, I believe it's usually her stepmother and stepsisters. I do recall seeing Prince Charming outside the restaurant for pictures, but I think Cinderella is only available at the CRT and perhaps the Princess Breakfast at Akershus....

Yes she, Prince Charming, the step sisters and stepmother are there.

We've been to both dinners. We liked 1900 Park Fare the characters were great the food was okay.We just did Akerhaus for the first time last week. Akerhaus you get 5 princesses, a free photo and salad/appetizer buffet and a meal. My husband and I did not have high expectations for the food there only because we don't like fish and weren't sure what they would offer for main course meals. The initial salad buffet has vegetable salad, fruit, and then some more traditional Norweigan choices and a fish/shrimp area. I got the mushroom stuffed ravioli and my husband got the beef tips in a vegetable ragu for dinner. We both agreed it was the best meal we had all week. We were very pleasantly surprised.
I think they are both good choices.
