We will be staying at the Pop Century and my 17 year old daughter and 13 year old son want to take Disney bus from resort to Downtown Disney to go to the movies (Harry Potter emergency!)while my husband and I enjoy some pool time. Should I let them?

Twice my daughter has meet up with a friend that has moved to Florida on our trips to WDW. They were 13 on the last trip and we had no hesitation to let them go off on their own in the MK for awhile. If they had asked to go to DD, I feel that my daughter has had enough experience on Disney transportation to safely get them there and back without any problems. However, I would have definately sent them off with a cell phone.

If you are confident in your kids then do not hesitate to let them go off so that you can have some time to yourselves.

We're Back

I'm the original poster of this thread and figured I would let everyone know we are back from our trip. It was wonderful, except for the heat ! The kids went to DD to the movies by themselves with cell phones and did fine. They met us at the House of Blues promptly after the movie and the only problem they had was an obnoxious little girl who kept bugging my daughter on the bus. She was to polite to ask the Mom to have the kid back off so they got off the bus at the Marketplace and walked to the Westside movies. She has been there many times and knew exaxtly where it was. By the way they saw Harry Potter and loved it, although they said it was a lot darker then the previous films and more for older kids.
We stayed at the Pop Century and thought it was a great and fun family vacation hotel. The House of Blues was good, but a little pricey for the type of restaurant it was. We had the character buffet dinner at the Crystal Palace in the MK and loved it! The food was delicious, the characters very accesible, even to an older family like us. Well worth $22 per person. We had a nice lunch at ESPN on the Boardwalk and would reccomend that as well.
We also split up from the kids for a little while at the MK so they could go on the roller coaster type rides and save their old parents from motion sickness. I actually got sick from the Spiderman ride at Islands of Adventure a few years ago!
Thanks to everyone who answered my original post, hope you all have great vacations, too.
