Trip Report 12 days of Live Trip Reporting

Departing tomorrow (June 28) from home in Manchester, Maryland for an extended 12 day visit to the World. Originally a 6 day visit, we added almost a full second week so DD could participate in the Disney Soccer Academy from July 7-10.

We will be leaving home around noon tomorrow and will drive straight through (about 1000 miles) with the plan being arrival around 7am or so at our first of 3 resorts, Grand Floridian (2 nights). If you want to check out our plans, we have a Pre-Trip Report (http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/a-6-day-no-make-that-12-day-4th-of-july-pre-trip.884929/) that you can check out if you want to know more about our plans.

I try to post daily when we are at Disney and include pictures as much as possible, so sit back, grab some popcorn, and join us each each night for the next couple weeks at the World!

This morning's update is still on the way...we are enjoying a Gurgling Suitcase Turtle Krawl in the room while we play a board game.

But...just a quick note that we booked the brand new Frozen Summer Fun Premium Package at Studios for this Saturday - which is the first day of the events. DD is a huge Frozen fan and getting premium seating for the parade with snacks, premium seating for the fireworks with desserts and DRINKS, and not having to wait in line for the sing-along is likely going to be worth it for us. We shall see.

Back soon with this morning's Animal Kingdom pics (I'll try to limit myself on the Safari pictures).

That is the prevailing opinion on my FB also. I have seen MANY osprey in my life and never one with such a stark color contrast (black and white instead of the usual grey-ish and brown).
I think the juveniles have that greyish (cream colored?) and brown marking, but adults ar darker brown with white. I could be wrong...

So, up and ready to rock this morning early. We arrived at Animal Kingdom around 7:40am and headed to the Safari right at opening. Almost every time on the safari and Jungle walks, I say that I'm not going to take too many pictures and I'm just going to relax and enjoy...and then it starts and I take 30+ pictures. I'll just share a couple here! The safari did have one bonus excitement for DD - the rocking bridge was actually working! The last 10+ times on safari it has not worked and she doesn't even remember it ever working, so that was a big bonus.

This friend was just left of the main track about 2/3 of the way through the safari. He appeared to be quite content in his spot in the shade with some delicious leaves!

After the safari, it was time for the Pagani Jungle. Here a few friends we met along the way.

And in the Gorilla area, there was a LOT of activity. Animals all over the place - check both the left and right sides of this picture.

We then headed over to the 'new' section of Harambe to wait for Festival of the Lion King. Very impressed with the attention to detail in this area - the new building and surrounding area are all extremely well done. DD was enjoying some time with the camera, so here is one of her shots from near the river.

Then it was time for Lion King and DD was chosen to be a part of the show!

After the show, we stopped at Pizzafari for some early lunch and then back to Old Key West to rest and relax a bit. Now, we have all finished our naps and are about to head to Studios for some rides, dinner, and Indiana Jones (which we fully expect will be our last time seeing it).

And now...the second half of Day 4.

But first a word from our sponsor...Disney of course. At AK this morning, DD felt the need to show off the fact that she was wearing the dress on the racks.

We hit Studios at about 3:30pm and went straight to Indy. Sadly, they could not do the whole show due to the rain in the area, but we sat up front and got some different perspective - up close and personal with the fire extinguisher brigade.

Sadly, with all the storms around and very wet ground, they only did half the show. Totally understood, but a bit of a bummer since I think this might be our last chance to see it. Odds are we won't be back for at least a year and I have a feeling it may be gone by then. That being said, our show was totally packed and the crowd was quite into it. After the show we stuck around for a few minutes so DD could meet the stars.

We then headed to Sunset Blvd to use our FP+ for both Tower of Terror and Rockin' Roller Coaster. DD loves both, so they were as fun as ever. No pics from either (the camera stayed in the room with all the storms around - even though we never got caught in one!), sorry! We then went over to the Animation Studio for the Animation Academy (a family favorite) where we learned to draw Sulley from Heather - she is our favorite of the animators and has met DD before and even did a special drawing for her once. We then hit our FP+ for The Great Movie Ride. We really like GMR, and had a GREAT host...but, our Bugsy (got the gangster room) was absolutely terrible. You could barely understand her lines and she did as little acting as possible. During the gunfight, she literally just stood there with the gun and said her lines unintelligibly. Definitely poor show. I guess good help is hard to find...

We then headed back to OKW for dinner and some drinks at the Gurgling Suitcase. Such a good atmosphere and great people. DD enjoyed that Ken made her a special drink of her own!

Tomorrow morning we get to sleep in a little and then breakfast at Ohana's. Can't wait! See you tomorrow afternoon.

Cant wait to hear about the Frozen party. As I posted earlier on a different thread, we booked it for July 25. Looking forward to hearing your perspective.

We'll let you know. Obviously, a little worried that there will be some first day bugs that we will be the ones to discover, but high hopes! Given the mixed drinks that I have read about from the SWW Experience, I may have to hold off on posting until Sunday morning. ;)

Having fun with this trip report. Thats a really cute pic of your pretty daughter showing off her excellent taste in shopping and coordinating a MM outfit ( love the matching MM ears).
Thanks for posting especially since this is the first July 4th holiday I am not visiting Disney. I will be enjoying your trip as if I was tagging along uninvited!

Tonight's plan includes staying at Magic Kingdom until 2 or 3am, so I doubt that I will be getting a post up at the end of the day. We're back at the room to rest a bit before that adventure begins, so here's the morning update!

For the first time in this trip, the morning started a little bit later and we slept in a good 10-15 minutes before we headed to Ohana for 8:25 ADRs. Enjoyable, but I can't say it was anything amazing - standard food, not a whole lot of character interaction, but the POG is excellent (I do worry a little that they call it Stitch juice since wouldn't that mean it came from him???).

After breakfast, we drove over to Fantasia Gardens and did a little wandering around Swan and Dolphin. DD is starting to experiment with Dad's camera more, so I got her to take this strange angle shot inside Swan.

Then it was time for some mini-golf. We had a lot of fun, but by the end of the round the sun was really getting tough to face.

Now there is a little bit of napping going on while I am doing laundry and making this post! See you tomorrow.

Good morning! We got back to the room a little after 2am last night and after a good 6+ hours of sleep, ready to get back out there. But, I promised y'all some pictures (and DD still needs to get dressed).

We hit the Magic Kingdom right around 2pm and headed to Liberty Tree Tavern for our 'dinner' ADRs. A nice meal and the Ooey Gooey Toffee was great! After lunch, it was time for DD to meet Anna and Elsa. The wait was 90 minutes, but through the magic of FP+, our wait was less than 2 minutes. Since we have a longer visit, we have been able to spread out our FP+ to hit pretty much everything we like at least once, which has been nice. After meeting Anna and Elsa, we went to Hall of Presidents for the show and then we planned to head to Haunted Mansion (it was about 4:15pm at this point), but did a quick re-evaluation. Heavy clouds were rolling in and we really wanted good seats for the fireworks, so we headed to the Train Station. And scored!! Got three chair right along the railing just a little off center.

Please take note more of the crowd than the storm clouds, because pretty soon the people really started to roll in. Since we had 4+ hours to spend up there, we played some cards, looked at our pictures, DD chatted with a friend on the phone, DD and DW took a train trip to the back and rode Teapots (I can't do teapots, no one likes it when I do!!), DW and I went over to Town Hall to get a night EMH attraction list, and multiple bathroom visits happened. We made friends with the families around us from Ohio and Mississippi and a couple cast members, and we all had a good old time. By the time it hit 8pm, the train station was packed (yes, a little part of my mind thought about the weight limits up there) and we were very happy to have waited so long.

Here come the fireworks! I took well over 100 shots (thank goodness we don't still use film) and have just picked a few to share here - haven't done any editing yet except to crop out the people and side buildings on a couple, but I think they work pretty well as is!

The show was incredible and the finale amazing - DW and I both had tears in our eyes! We weren't sticking around for the parade (since we have seen it more times than we can count) which made the Mississippi group quite happy to score our chairs and front row spot! We dodged the raindrops (actually if felt like more hit us than missed) and went back to Mine Train to use our FP+ for a night ride. Excellent! Then it was just touring and doing what we could as the crowds watched the parade and eventually we hit EMH. Neither of those things really thinned out the herd too much, but we did manage to do the following in our three hours back there (after grabbing some food with Sonny Eclipse) - It's A Small World (facade is no longer covered, but I can't see what changed), Haunted Mansion (with our rescheduled FP+ from the afternoon), Barnstormer, Dumbo, Carousel of Progress, Buzz Lightyear, Winnie the Pooh, Philharmagic, and Peter Pan. The longest waits were Pooh and Pan, both around 15 minutes - not too shabby on July 3rd!

Here's the good night view of the castle at about 1:40am as we headed out.

Now we are about to head to the mass of humanity that will be Epcot for July 4th! Wish us luck!!

With Frozen DHS premiering tomorrow, it's almost a triple! Fireworks tonight at Epcot tonight were amazing and it was fun to have the burn-off just a couple minutes after the main show - evidently almost an entire barge for the USA tag didn't launch followed by the DHS 4th fireworks over Morocco.

I'll have pictures some time tomorrow, but right now we all need some sleep.

Love that Epcot finale. Sorry it didn't go as planned. Enjoy the Frozen show tomorrow. Can't wait to hear about it
