$114 for Disney Studios

With its current attraction lineup coupled with the boarded up areas---excluding those who have money to burn---is there any sane person who would shell out $114 for a single day there?

I would think very few would do such a thing. If it weren't for the AP program and hopper features at $114 that place would be a ghost town.

Have they filled the lake yet?

I feel the same way. In fact I started a thread a little while ago about skipping a year all together until they get more done. You are paying a lot of money for four parks not 3 and 1/4. You would almost have to have the PH to make it anywhere near worth while going. But people got on my thread and pretty much told me it's an all day park. Really? I'm older I don't do the sing alongs and stuff for kids.

I'm not sure about the lake's status.

As for Disney Studios at large out of the 12 parks around the globe and their respective evolutions I can only think of 2 times when a Disney park operated in a more woeful state: The pre 1994 MGM and Paris Disney Studios in the early 2000's

the Studios very sad current state, in my opinion, is light years worse than any California Adventure incarnation, an opening day lineup at Hong Kong or even a 1998 Animal Kingdom start.

If I had to pay single day rack rate there, then I would say $22 to $25 seems appropriate.

It's all perception. It makes people think they are getting a bargin by purchasing multiple day passes and park hoppers. WDW tries very hard to make themselves a multiple day resort, not a day trip.

If park admission was $114 a day - for any park, then I would go very rarely, and when I did go it would be to go to one park (and definately not DHS right now) The day would be planned, and I would go from rope drop to closing. I would spend the majorty of my time "getting my money's worht" by going to attractions, and long wait times would make we rethink going at all. There would be no sit down dinners, no two hour character buffets, no browsing in the vairous shops and finding some expensive item I had not planned to buy. It would be rides, shows, and a $12 hamburger.

WDW wants people to stay and visit multiple days. It makes them a lot more money. By making the one day rate insane, it drive people towards multiple day tickets because of the "discount".

So, no, DHS is not worth $114 a day, and in my opinion NONE of the parks are, in the current way I visit them. If ANY park was $114 a day, the wait times would become MUCH more of an issue to me.

Sure. If you had never gone to DHS before perhaps? You can have a very full day there even in its current state

This is the same question that comes up when people bring up working a Universal day or two into a Disney vacation. The cost of the tickets is a huge deterrent (buying two sets) Of course, seeing the HP lands are a bigger draw than DHS right now, but I do think more people buy one-day tickets than it would seem sometimes

If you really want to do something, you will do it if you can afford it.

Agreed, we go for 2 hours twice per trip..-2-3 rides and done! We have never seen Star Wars and aren't fans of shows...

The whole family likes TSMM. The kids and I like RnRC. One child and I like ToT.. I'll go in the evening to see the Star Wars show, and sometimes one of the kids comes with me. While I enjoy the vairous acts in the parks, they are not enough to make me go for that sole reason.

It is usually me and the ToT rider going early and doing that, then the rest of the family meets up tor TSMM. Depending on the lines, then we will go on RNRC, or leave. We used to like GMR, but thats gone now. Thats about it. Yeah, sure, you could spend a whole day there if you go to see all of the stage shows, and ride all of the attractions, but after having seen or ridden all of them (except for the very little stage shows) multiple times, they really don't hold any draw.

And I know this is a personal thing - but I hate the layout of that park. Maybe it's just me, but even after having been in DHS more times than I can count, including having run throught it for a variety of RunDisney events, I still think it is not intuitive and easy to navigate. I know where everything is, and how to get to it., I just find it horribly annoying to get around in.

Sigh, not this again. Clearly, no one should ever buy a 1 day ticket to any of the parks...even the Magic Kingdom. It's simply too expensive on a one day basis. Stay 6 days and your per day expense is extremely reasonable for non stop entertainment.

Get off the soap box about 1 day ticket prices in general. DHS is a mess, but people have been using this shallow argument for years. It didn't make sense before DHS was a ghost town and doesn't make sense now.

I can't imagine there are to many people buying one day tickets right now. I wonder if that has hurt sales or is there enough of us who buy a WDW total package to make up for the loss.

But Disney itself perpetuates these talks by declaring in a very loud and most clear voice that the Studios even in its current woeful state offers the guest an equivalent experience to Epcot and Animal Kingdom.

Here's my problem with that. The family and I are cruising early next year. We are spending one day there once we get off the boat. My daughters are three and I like to keep them entertained. We will hit one park so they can have some fun. I also need to continue my yearly streak. If I had more time, I would buy a multi day ticket. Since they don't offer non-expiring tickets, there isn't much I can do.

My opinion, if you spend 1 day, there is nothing wrong with Disney charging an arm and a leg. They don't make enough money on a 1 day proposition.

If there was a better way, I'd do it. Its a shame the price is as high as it is. Upside, is that I use my DVC to stay there so I am not paying extra.

I sell Insurance at a AAA office in Florida. You would not believe how many 1 day tickets we sell every day. Some people don't know or can afford the day and don't mind.
