Ok..This question is targeted to everyone...I know flying from UK that most people do a 14 day trip..Now that may include going to other places like Universal..Sea World..Shopping Malls.....etc....But if your deciding to stay inside the bubble, and have been to WDW before.( so it's not all new to you ) Would you consider an 11 night vacation.?..Yes I know it's a long flight from the UK..But to be honest leaving at 10.30am and arriving at Orlando at 2.30pm I no longer suffer jet lag...The reason I'am asking is I have definitely decided that AKL ( sorry PORS ) will be my next resort stay..And the 11 day vacation is a lot cheaper than the 14 day trip...( always looking to save a Buck ) ..I'am talking approx $1500 a saving..That's in total..resort + tickets + flights?...I remember last year,on our last day we were pooped..We had done all the attractions we had wanted to do..Saw the live shows..Ate at our ADR restaurant choices..Shopped and spent well over $1000 in souvenirs...We were ready for home...So I'am curious to know what your favourite vacation time period is.?..Is 5 days enough..Or 7 days..Have you done 11 days and were happy that you had achieved all your goals...:inlove:...Your thoughts on this please...?..

Well, if you are visiting when the weather is pretty nice, where you can do the parks during the day without suffering heat stroke...yet warm enough you can still visit the pool and enjoy then, I would think 11 days at AKL would be an adequate vacation given you really are going to have 9 1/2 days because of travel days?
So far my longest stay at the world has been 12 days...and I have to confess I could stay longer. But 12 days is nice, it is long enough that I know I have been gone a while on vacation and I really don't feel rushed since I have almost 2 weeks but I still don't do everything I plan. There is always a ride or two I never got on, or something I didn't eat...I do tend to go at crowded time periods and I will hunker down at the resort rather than stand around with the masses.
I just can't believe you are trying a new resort... :jawdrop:
Please.....

7-10 days is my max. We did a 14 day trip in 06, and as much as I love being at WDW I was ready to come home. If I had to travel a long way such as the Hatter I would stay longer. However I do like saving money when I can.
Agree..14 days last year was great, but by day 12 we were going thro the motions..To be honest, once I hand my car keys over at the airport hotel.Step on the plane..Then take that sip of pre ordered champers,my holiday has begun..The 8 hour flight is now a pleasure..:hungry:...

We tried 7 nights-too short...we tried 14-too long. For us anywhere from 9-11 nights seems to be just right. We'd done 10 night trips 3 times and figured if we loved that then 14 would be fantastic.....wrong! By day 11 or 12 everyone was done. Not that we don't love the world but everyone was missing the poopy and the family back home. There's nothing worse than being on vacation and wanting to be home. So I vote for 11 nights Hatter. You wouldn't want to know you spent $1500 just to have the family wish they were back home.

We go for 14 days, with one day off. If you still want to do the 14 days maybe you could move to a value resort for the last 3 days or even (heaven forbid) an offsite, just to get in 3 more days of vacation time. $1500 is a certainly a lot of $ to spend for 3 days!

We're doing a 23 days next year and 13 of them will be spent at Disney. Our plan is to take everything as slow paced as we can, half days at the parks followed by resort hopping, party days and mini golf. This will be our last trip before 2017 so we really want to really take everything in.

Do you plan to spent those 11 days at Disney or do you want to venture out to Universal/Seaworld? To me 11 days are not enough especially if traveling overseas is involved.

Considering I've done 5-6 day/4-5 nights in my past, it's definitely not enough and I end really exhausted because with few days and not enough time, there's a rush mentality to make sure things get done so to speak. Personally, two weeks is too much...if you live the US or North America for that matter. Travelling overseas is understandable because of the time difference and whatnot. I was thinking 9-11 days would be perfect for me because that ensures some rest days where I can recover from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks and just relax. Plus it'll allow me to do things that I want to do outside the parks that I never got to do because of the extreme devotion to park time.

It all depends on your personal "vacation stamina." As much as I'd love to stay for more than a week, my family and I get a little homesick by the 6th or 7th day. One week at a time lets us do enough to be satisfied, with enough remaining to serve as a "teaser" for a future visit, and we're glad to go home by then.

I think it also depends on how much you are allowed to travel.
I've seen some people here that go every year to disney world, not everyone has that luxury.. so we tried to see as much we could.

And I agree with you on the stamina thing... We were really tired after visiting the big 4 disney parks (and the food poisoning I got from houston didn't help, but being in awe at disney cured me fast!..)

fully agree.

Speaking of Weather, You cant believe how lucky we were.. (me and my mother).
As the weather channel said there were 60-80% probability of Rain (during the week we were gonna be at WDW).
and then there was the hurricane warning nearby (more projected rain) and We didn't had a single rainy day in my entire trip!! only when we were leaving for the airport... the storm finally unloaded.

You're a WDW vet at this point hatter! I think the 11 days would be great. We always try to make our trips about two weeks, but recently we decided to shorten them up a bit while still relaxing and seeing what we like. When we first went, 15 plus days was the norm. We now try to go a few extra times a year for a few days rather then cramming it all into one trip. We love it when we are there, but after 10 plus days we are tired! Our October trip was a long weekend. Christmas will be 8 days, but really only six vacation days. We have an advantage (a short two hour plane ride), but like you, after 10 plus days Im ready to go home to the real world. Im glad you have chosen AKL! You will love it. Best of luck in whatever plans you make! I hope your sixth and final visit is your best!

I would say go with the savings and stay for 11 days. HOWEVER....I know this is your last trip for awhile. So are you sure you are going to get your fill knowing you won't be back for awhile? That would be my only thought to stay for 14 days.

Absolutely, I have done 10 night a few times and managed to get WDW and Universal completely done, it wouldn't be my preference as I prefer 14 nights but it always seemed like enough time when we went!

I'm only a short 2 1/2 hour plan ride away so short trips for us is a long 4 day weekend to Disney. Our long trips are 10-12 days. We were just in Disney in June and stayed a AKL and are heading back there is May too for another 11 days. Personally I think that plenty on time to get everything you want done in Disney. Have you stayed at AKL before? It's over favorite!!!! If you wanted to stay longer then 11 days, have you considered doing a split stay? 11 days at AKL and moving some place alittle cheaper? $1500 is definitely a lot for 3 days. I go with the saving too. Just trying to think of ways for you to stay longer and save.

Hater, IMHO it all depends on how you spend your days.
If you don't overdo it, you will enjoy the 14 days vs the 10 days.
Pulling a top gear on a daily basis like we did on our first WDW trip was tiring emotionally and physically by day 9 of 11, we were anxious to go home. Me and wife learn the hard way :)
Our 12 days vacation the following year was great though because we really time our schedule wiser. Which involves waking up late, chillaxing at the pool, talking about why Manchester United would win the league lol, not committing ourself to Fastpasses, no ADRs etc :)
