OMG, How great the Simpsons is, i love it, it can not be ranked above the likes of Mickey Mouse, Fantasia ect... i mean Mickey Mouse basicly invented Cartoon characters.

And other Disney Classics such as Peter Pan so far down, and the Lion King placing so highley, lol.

And i love Pixars and Dreamworks films, but truley the only one that should really be placed so high is Toy Story cos it basicly was the orginal 3D animation movie and is still great.

Still Diseny Definatly had the strongest showing with the most cartoons in the list. :)

I don't like the fact that they lumped full length features with weekly series. They also didn't separate into categories. Some had better animation, some had better stories, others were more humorous, and others were innovative.

Hey, you missed the little **------- for The Nightmare Before Christmas. You could also technically get away with putting it next to Spirited Away since Disney was the American distributor for it and if my memory is not messing with me, Princess Mononoke as well.

This list is obviously compiled by someone who cares about something other than quality. Placing "The Simpsons" above Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, and "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" proves that.

The oddest part of this list to me is that only two of the top ten are more than 15 years old (Tom and Jerry, Bugs Bunny). I don't know what criteria they used to determine "greatest", but I should think staying power and lasting influence would be taken into account. From that perspective, some of the older cartoons should probably be bumped up.

That said, I can't quibble with their number one, The Simpsons. It will be a loooong time before another cartoon approaches the wit, social commentary, popularity, and entertainment value of The Simpsons.

King of the Hill, South Park and Futurama all fit nicely in that same box. It didn't take very loooong after all!

Simpsons #1 I'm fine with. But Tom and Jerry #2? Pleeeeeease. Any of those older cartoons on the list beat out Tom and Jerry in my mind, which was basically a far less interesting Road Runner/Coyote setup. At least the Road Runner cartoons had interesting scenery and all those neato ACME gadgets.

Having "Charley Says" on there proves that it's not to be taken seriously.

For our non British friends, "Charley Says" was a series of thirty second public information films from the Seventies aimed at children to make sure they paid attention when crossing the road or did not talk to strangers who ask them if they'd want to see some puppies.

Agreed, they should have made two separate lists.

i'm highly disappointed that the Jetson's, He-Man, She-ra, and GIJO did not make the list:mad:

He-Man did make it... it's right under Beauty and the Beast... but I'm really disappointed that She-Ra's not on there.

Agreed. I alway root for Tom. Jerry's a little....vermin.

Another problem with this list (beside the Iron Giant making the list at all) is that it doesn't distinguish which cartoon put the character on the list. For example, the early Popeye's made by Fliesher (sp?) were quite good. The later ones released by AAP, stunk like rotten spinich.

Another point: why did it pick Charlie Brown? He was a central character but he always apeared with the other Peanuts, especially Snoopy. It would be like calling The Simpsons "The Bart Show."

As Kate says, Whatever!
