$100 a day? Soon. VERY soon.

Remember recently when I told you TDO was making plans to break the psychological ticket price barrier of $100 a day by next summer at the latest ... possibly shatter it by including a QSR meal or a few FPs to make it feel more like a package?

Well, today comes a David Koenig column http://www.mouseplanet.com/10053/100_a_Head talking about plans for $100 tix at DLR. Remember, WDW has ALWAYS been the higher priced option. Today a one day, one park ticket to DL costs $87 (up from the $80 I paid just before Christmas) while the same media at WDW is $94.79 a day.

WDW will NOT ever be priced the same or less than DL, so if DL is looking at $100 by late 2013, you can expect a $110-115 one day, one park price in O-Town at the same point. And, no, I don't think the quality justifies the price.

I really doubt they're going to cross the barrier to 3 digits before tax because of the psychological deterrent of that number.
They'll hold off for as long as they can.
Years, I'd bet.

Thank God for family and friends who work for the Disney company. Those free tickets will come in handy.

I have a feeling those days will seen be coming to an end as well. At least the structure that we now know. In Florida anyways. I think WDW management sees how cast members are getting tourists and guests in for free...and I am sure they are not happy. At the VERY least, in the duture, I would expect a reduction in number of guests you can get in a year - and the requirement that you stay with them for the duration of their stay.

Didn't Iger just sell a bunch of his Disney stock and make like $27 million from it? Now they will drive down stock prices with stuff like this and then buy it back. It's a conspiracy. Or its to pay for their stargate program.

I don't know about Florida (I'm a Californinan), but I think if they wanted to do something like that in California, they would have done it by now. They're quite generous with the front gate pass for the Disneyland Resort. But you never know, it may change.

LOL. Dramatic prairie dog? (or at least I think it's a prairie dog) and The Office (Poor Toby..Michael never liked him much ;)) in the first few posts...love it! :)

As to the sad post our dear friend 74' has written... $110-115 dollars a day tickets is just depressing to think about. Nothing Disney has done recently justifies that price even for MK or Epcot but especially not for the two parks. DHS and AK simply aren't worth that admission price. Just as NFE does not justify a 15-35% price hike on everything come next year either, should 74's post about that come true (think he indicated they are just heavily considering it at this point..though still a sad thought). Disney apparently really does want you to break the bank to visit them. Even if/when I want to go to Disney, I think I'm approaching my affordability limit fast.

Hi All
I have been reading this site for almost a decade and loving every minute of it. Thanks everyone for a great read. I have, for the last few years, wanted to start a thread just like this but I would have started the thread with "150USD/day/person/park for the resorts 50th anniversary?" Unfortunatley I don't have the time to keep up with the discussion so I thought it unfair to start a thread and not follow up but I have no doubt that what spirit (sorry for the familiarity) says is going to happen is going to happen. Disney will premium price the pants off the middle class as soon as they are able. Just so you all know I have no agenda I am a 47 year old Canadian man that has lived in Taiwan since 1992 but visited the parks a couple dozen times since 1977.
Could the cost be 3 digits by the end of next year? I think so.

If they charge DL/DCA for 100 dollars that make sense to me because of the "F-ticket"RSR, carsland, and the new multible E-tickets coming to DL designed to compete with Potter. If they charge DisneySea for 100 USD that makes sense to me too for the sheer perfection of the park. But as of now to me not a single park in WDW worth 100 USD. But right now if you don't keep the change, it is 100 USD for a park.

One-day ticket price is something very few ever pay. The ONLY impact is psychological and of course '74 getting to rant yet again.

I get sufficient value from the ticket I buy. The rest is bluster.

Agreed. And if they throw in a QSR credit, there is value there--although I wonder how this would work with the DDP.

While I wouldn't enjoy paying more, it wouldn't stop me from going to the world. I always have a good time and get an experience I can't find anywhere else

It's amazing how when they raise the price every year by 5 bucks everyone chimes in about how they're not going to stop coming because of 5 bucks. Well $5 is a $20 increase in just 4 years. That's huge. That's why I don't think a $13 increase and throw in a freebie is going to stop anyone either. And if it's not going to stop anyone from coming, they'd be stupid not to do it.

Pricing is both an art and a science. Disney seems intent on finding the breaking point. Which, at some level, I understand. For a long time, I think tickets were under-priced. I no longer think that is the case.

Ever since Magic Your Way, Disney has actively discouraged one-day guests. I know I would never buy a one-day ticket under the current pricing structure. This sounds like the next logical step in that progression.

If they continue pushing the limits of pricing, it will blow up in their faces at some point. Will this be the move that crosses the invisible line? Impossible to know. Disney is playing a dangerous game.

That requirement already exists if you are not a relative-it is enforced to varying degrees
