These articles are written by the same people that will say the beach is so much better than anything else. People need to realize that at WDW, you are paying for an experience of a lifetime. You experience an entirely different world, you just let go and relax. At the beach, you get full of sand and dive into the bathroom of sea-dwelling animals. Honestly, there's no question about how amazing WDW is, and it es me off when you have these people point out only the negatives/high prices of this amazing place!!

I clicked Yes but meant to say No (d*#n iPad). Even though WDW has its issues, it's still a fun place to be.

Yeah, what's up with the beach? I think the beach is a far overrated experience than WDW.

If you think WDW thrives on marketing an experience that is relatively overpriced, popular culture uses "the beach" to sell anything and everything. . . associating their products with either fun with friends, romance, serenity, family time. . . take your pick.

Does this resemble the beach you were at last time?

In my opinion, WDW delivers on what is promises far more than whatever "the beach" does.

Why go to the "beach" when you have Disney parks AND blizzard beach, typhoon lagoon (a beach in and of itself) and the shorelines of some of the water resorts.

Paying $99 per day to be trapped in a park surrounded by other peoples' children and fully grown adults who like Disney? No thanks. Even a bottle of water will run you $2.50 once you're within reach of the Mouse's greedy grasp. And if you're thinking about purchasing a "specialty" cocktail to numb the pain of being at Disney World, you'll have to shell out $8.50 per drink.

Also, local channel posted piece on it too:

Sooo.... What say you WDWMagic? Share the same sentiments?
It's a clickbait article for ad revenue. Not worthy of Ch 13 picking it up as a legit piece of journalism. The equivalent of some guy you don't know arguing bunnies are the worst animal because they eat. In society, we politely ignore these people and move on with our day. On the internet, they get taken seriously as 'journalists' because they have a logo.

I will say there are couple destinations in there I agree with... I unfortunately found both Hollywood and Nassau disappointing for the reasons provided, and have heard that about Casablanca as well. Even with Niagara Falls, while I found the falls themselves to be impressive, I did find the huge toursist-trap-filled town that surrounded it to detract from the experience somewhat. So I can't pretend there isn't SOME truth to the list, and she didn't say "bad", she just said "disappointing," which I took to mean "overhyped."

That said, I still think there are enjoyable things that can be found in ANY location, and if you can't find fun things to do in Las Vegas, there's something wrong with you. ;) And of course many would disagree with the places I mentioned above, so in the end it comes down to personal preference. Not everyone is going to be a fan of Disney's "you get what you pay for" experience (nor should everyone - the parks are crowded enough as it is ;)), so in the end this list is just one person's preference.

That's taking things way, way too far, and much like saying why travel outside the United States when we have World Showcase, or why go on a real African safari. Sure, the water parks and resorts are nice and serve as a great representation of a somewhat idealized beach or lagoon. However, besides the fact that there is no substitute for authenticity, the scope and scale is necessarily limited in any such artificial presentation.

Taken to the extreme, why leave your house at all when you can experience all of Disney on Youtube.

Haha don't take things so literally man. That was tongue in cheek. I go to the beach sometimes too. :)

I saw this report while I was on WDW property Saturday. I disagree. The people disappointed at Disney are those who go with the wrong expectations. For example, my husband does not like it. He agrees with the article but was dumbfounded when he saw Las Vegas also listed. Keep in mind, he was never taken to WDW as a child. He was never taken places with crowds or lines. His family took him much more low key places. When I took him to WDW he was less than impressed. He is just not a WDW person so I don't take him most of the time.

Of course LV is listed, people go with these huge expectations and are let down when they get there. Same goes with Disney. I don't go expecting a miracle. I go to be in a family environment that has something for everyone. I don't stress when I am there and just go to have a good time. You can't be worried about how much a one day ticket cost. I mean for $99 look at all you can do. There are many other ways to save money while at WDW.

Lazy reporting purely designed to get people upset so they'll read it.

$99/day is so overquoted and misquoted by authors writing about Disney, it has lost all meaning.

You'll only pay $99 if you stay one day and it's arguably STILL worth it considering you'll spend more than that on a 2 hour show in Manhattan or one activity like boating, water skiing, or an excursion at another venue.

Good fun isn't cheap and it's not just Disney charging. You get a lot less for the same or more money elsewhere. <$100 buys a lot of fun at the Magic Kingdom if you know what you're doing.

This was obviously written by someone who doesn't travel. I just went to Tokyo and spent far more than $100/day for activities, NOT including food. I've come back realizing Disney is one of the best values in vacation if you plan it correctly. There is just so much to do in one place and they've taken all the thinking out of it. Go to a major city in the US, Europe, Asia, or another exotic destination anywhere in the world. Unless you want to just stare out at the ocean the entire time (which can be fun) you have to fill up the time somehow. Every little thing you do will cost money including transportation, food, tipping, hotel, etc. Oh BTW, hotels and food are a lot more expensive elsewhere in the world. I paid over $500/night in Tokyo and $40/person EASILY for any food.

I think the author hates crowds - hence Vegas, Temple Bar, WDW, Niagra Falls, Liberty Island and so forth - all those places involve lots of people.

My dad has zero interest in going to all the places on her list since he too is not a fan of crowds and prefers to go on vacation to the middle of no where on hunting trips - so he goes on his vacations with his friends and my mom travels with me (She has zero interest in hunting).

Now if I were to pick vacation destinations I thought were over rated - I would put San Antonio, TX and New Orleans, LA on the list - both have major tourist traps (River Walk & French Quater) with a night life that is over priced and a city that lacks other attractions. Neither are on my list to go back to again - where Dublin (Which is on her list) including the Temple Bar area I would love to visit again (Was there in 2012).
