10/8/02 Tues
*Packing. I'm a true procrastinator! Drove down to Bloomington IL to meet up with my ol' CP roomate and his friends.

10/09/02
*Took a flight to Orlando via Atlanta around 5am.
*Visited the Studios :) It's the perfect season to go there. The longest wait that day was for star tours 20 min.
*Preparations for the Osbourne Lights are under way. Most of the homes are strung up already. The large Xmas tree, the reindeers, the large greeting, the globe and a couple other things are up and ready too.
*I have a couple of photos of Mission Space. And I got some great photos of the pavilions at night. Ohhh Ahhh. :)

10/10/02
*Went to Epcot and rode TT. And I GOT STUCK ON IT. A first for me! We got stuck right under the sign that displays your speed. We sat there for 5 min till we started rolling along the track. I was especially painful when we started to go around the banked turn at a snail's pace. Was allowed to ride again but had to wait in car for all other cars to make it around the track. Sat and waited inside the building for 10 more min for the cars to clear out. Cast member let us know we could stay on the ride one more time if we wanted. I wanted out! Getting stuck 2 times sucks. I opted for the Exit pass.
*Picked up work ID to get access to discounts and parks.
*Tidbit of info. All the booths for the F&W festival are set. Spain is up and fairly set up. It may look like a permanant exhibit from afar. But upon closer inspection, you can tell it's drilled together with screws and plywood.
*Had lunch at Biergarten. Yum!
*Noticed that 1/2 of Japan's store is closed for refurb.
*Watched American Adventure. Desperately wanted to see it since last year's event. Very PATRIOTIC!
*Headed to MK around 5pm and did attractions: Space Mt. (both sides), Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mtn, Spash Mtn, Snow White (first time ever). Max wait was for Spash (20min).

10/11/02
*Went to Dak. Saw Dinosaur, Whirl and Tough to be a Bug. (Max wait was for Tough to be a bug-20min)
*After that I went to DTD to do a whole lot of shopping! Shopped till 3pm and then headed off to work.
*Worked back at conventions in Epcot. Worked for the cast celebration. Horray to all the cast member who've worked at WDW for 10+ years. They did it in the old millvill and set it up really nice. It's a great place for a convention! Cast members got a free photo, all the characters were there, an open bar (some of who abused way tooooo much), live bands, and a whole lot of food.
*Went to Art of Disney and saw the coolest thing: it was a sign of the park's name. But each letter of the name was represented by a letter taken from an attraction in that park. EG p in epcot represented by the p in Space.
*I saw Al Weiss backstage. :)

10/12/02
*Traveling. Out of FL at 8AM. Back in Chicago by 19:30.

10/13/02

Yip, but there's talks about making it a real pavilion. It's located at the African Outpost. Check the news page, Steve put something up about it. :)

I know the story about it becoming the new WS pavilion, but then I heard it was just going to be for the festival. Now looking at the picture, it seems like that is a fairly permanent structure. The other countries just get carts, this looks like a new pavilion.

It looks really sturdy from afar. But when I went to take a closer look at it all it really was a basic wooden structure covered by plywood. I could see the dimples made by the screws so there was really nothing behind some of the structure. If you compare this to the other pavilions you can REALLY tell it's a temporary structure. Plus the lawn is still in tact under the buildings. I'm sure if Spain does opt to join in World Showcase they'd do a lot more work on the land.

I'm using a Canon G2. I shelled out a whole lotta money for it and it's really paying off for me. I too had a mavica with a 3.5 floppy drive but I absolute photo freak :p . During my college program I took more than 1500 images during my 4 month stay. I used so many floppies that it was insane! I could only fit 4-5 images since I'd always use the highest resolution. Luckily I had a laptop down there so I could transfer the files. As for my trip to Europe I decided to pick up the G2 so I didn't have to deal with the floppy swap. I got a 256MB card and was set for the entire trip. Now I can take 200 images on my 4mp camera and get really crisp images. I'm very happy with my camera. :p
(check the travel forums for all the photos that I took ;) )

Mission: Space images coming up...

The panoramic images are actually 5 images stitched together. since she was moving between the two shots she got blurred.

The largest panoraic I got consisted of 12 stitched photos. It started at the Imagination pavilion and stretched all the way to the Living Seas. It was a neat shot but I got a couple of blurred people in it too.
