I do agree entirely Dave... however, prices like this are definitely making me ponder making the transition to a CF camera.

You can get a 40x Lexar for under $150 ... ive never heard of kingston and woulndt trust them w/ my photos.

I've never heard of them either. But this type of competition is good for driving the prices down of other well-known cards.

I don't think I want a card that big. That's a LOT of information to lose if something goes awry with the card.

Kingston is one of the largest manufacturer's of p/c memory in the world. Their p/c memory is very reliable. It's the only one I use.

WOW! That's good to know. Buy.com is selling the Kingston 256mb flash card for $14. Free shipping and no tax either!

Why I mention these prices is that WDW charges the same amount to transfer 125 or so pictures from your card to a CD. You're so much better off buying additional cards rather than risk running out of space and spending money to transfer them.

I definitely like the downward trend in prices...

Thanks for the tip Tramp! I picked up my 256 cards for $14. What a great deal! To bad they limit you to 2 rebates per household. I would have liked to get a few more.

Yep...I bought two for myself...I researched the card fairly well and found all good reviews so I'm confident it's a good product. It's hard to beat the price...what's next, FREE?

I have a real fear of large cards like that. Last time I was at Disney I had 8 64mb cards and 1 16mb card. I accidentally dumped my camera bag at the airport on the way home and lost one of the cards. Thankfully it was only the 16mb one so I only lost a handful of pictures. But it really got me thinking, what happens if I lose a 1gb card or it gets corrupt. I couldn't stand to lose that many images at one time. Even though it is a PITA to carry 8-10 cards around all the time and to switch several times a day, it's worth it to me to avoid potentially loosing hundreds of pics.

I agree with you on that. I do the exact same thing.

Kingston are absolutely huge in Europe, maybe they are new to the USA market. They are the worlds largest manufacturer of memory modeules in the World, and they have been one of the dominant suppliers of PC based memory here for 10+ years, and are generally the preferred after-market memory supplier for IBM, DELL etc. I wouldnt have any concerns about their quality. I use a couple of their CF cards, as well as their PC memory modules.

Steve, i repect your opinion on this and thanks for the info on the company.

That notwithstanding, just for sheer speed and reliability in the industry, for cameras I'm still sticking with Lexar and SanDisc. Rob Gailbraith has a huge database on write/read and reliability of various memory card media on his Digital Photo Website.

While compact flash is compact flash, Im still looking at PC memory and Camera memory as two different things with two different and specific applications.

Kingston memory is a "bottom line" outfit. They sell lots of memory, at a cheap price. I have never bought their product line, nor will I take the chance. Kingston memory has a bad reputation in that it often has to be underclocked in many applications.

I have a Kingston CF card and it works fine in most cases, but SanDisk is still the king! :) I have noticed the speed differences.

Plus, one thing to keep in mind. If you are not sure, be careful about grabbing those huge memory cards since not all cameras will work with all sizes of cards. I'm sure most of us here know this, but for anyone new to digital cameras, read that, um, manual. It "may" have some useful information and may save you some money! :)
