DAK “Zootopia” is being created for the Tree of Life theater

I’m starting to think people need thicker skin when Disney starts swapping out nearly 30-year-old 3D show shows.
To be fair, Zootopia as an IP is basically the textbook example of what the creators said doesn't belong in Animal Kingdom. That being said, this tucked-away outcome is way better than the original alternative, Tough to Be a Bug was indeed tired, and the quality of the show could very well be good even if Zootopia was an especially poor IP choice.

At the same time … sometimes the creators may not always be right. They have their opinion, others have their. It’s all very subjective.

Yeah, but regardless of Rohde's opinion, almost nothing about the Zootopia IP is a good fit for Animal Kingdom. Indy and Encanto aren't exactly the best fits either, but it's easier to make them work in the park than Zootopia.

That said, as @James Alucobond said, if they were determined to force Zootopia in a park where it doesn't belong, this is the best solution. It keeps them hidden from the park and is vastly superior to cloning the Zootopia ride/land.

As I said, in a few years just like all the other parks Animal Kingdom will just an IP billboard that just happens to feature animals.

Respectfully disagree. This existing in the Tree of Life park weenie is near sacrilege for the "Nahtazu" crowd. And I'd argue that a better hidden location would have been a new buildout from Planet Watch.

They're never going to add much to Planet Watch as long as the transportation situation remains what it is, and if they did alter transport, it would likely result in a significant, new-land-scale buildout, which Zootopia definitely should not have in this park. Tree of Life and Theater in the Wilds are the two existing venues that don't sit within a specific regional land and can change programming without visible impact to the park. It's not ideal, but execs were so keen to get Zootopia into this park that I'm relieved that this was an acceptable appeasement. The proposed Dinosaur replacement or a larger complete land would have been infrastructurally disastrous.

Technically he’s not right, nor wrong. He has his subjective opinion on how the art and story should be directed / dictated.
True, but for me personally, there’s no one outside of Walt Disney himself that I would trust more with a theme park.

With that said, while Pandora came out great overall, I never loved its inclusion at DAK. I’ve always believed that Joe might feel the same but that happened on his watch anyway. Proof that whatever the powers that be may want, they shall get.

So this would then mean that your opinion holds the same weight as his then? If not, why? Why does his opinion hold more weight than yours or mine? Clearly, there are factors that make his opinion more trusted and respected than yours or mine (aside from the fact that he basically created the place). And if that’s the case, what value does the below comment provide?

There was definitely a huge attempt made to make Pandora work within DAK's overall story. It's about nature, the animals, and conservation. Pandora was threatened by the RDA much like how industrial giants threaten our real natural world. Even if you want to argue that the franchise doesn't belong, significantly more care was put into making it feel like it does than any other attraction shoehorn Disney has done

All of our opinions do. The only opinion that matters is the one that makes the decisions, and it’s not us, or really the creatives, these days.

Nice opinions, but it's still pure fantasy and conjecture.
