Fa la la la la
la la la LA

But let’s be honest.
Which season isn’t the season for more Disney?
In 2017 I have been fortunate to experience winter, spring and summer in the world.
And now the holidays!
Since December is such a festive time of year at the parks, I think two trips are in order....don’t you?

Trip #1
Cast:
Tuvalu and Em
When: December 1-4, 2017
Where: Port Orleans Riverside
Why: A Jingle BAM Birthday 2.0

Join us as we attend our first MVMCP, wander around World Showcase like a couple of newbies, meet a forum friend and intentionally watch LOTS of fireworks....did we get to Illuminations this year?

You’ll have to wait and see.

On the way to our next attraction we encountered the Treats are Here! symbol.

Isn’t this candy cane enticing?

We thought so. Into Tortuga Tavern we went. (It really is “Open Seasonally”! :joyfull:)

CMs were handing out snowman pretzels and blue ice snow cones.

I expected the pretzel to be warm. It wasn’t.

At the risk of alienating @ajrwdwgirl, we found the snacks to be “meh.” The pretzel was dense and dry. The snow cone syrup puddled at the bottom of the cup, making the majority of the ice flavorless.

Oh well.....onward and upward!
I know, I know. I am trying to ‘ketchup ‘. Our pretzel was great! It was warm and soft inside! I wanted more!

We googled before we went so we'd know what we were looking for. Even knowing what to expect, it wasn't easy to find ornaments. And a lot of them didn't precisely match their sticker either....
Kudos to you for attempting this with a two-year-old. I would have ended up in tears. :joyfull:

Their noses :geek:
@wdwfamilynh beat me to it but I’ll add on - Chip has a black nose like a chocolate chip! :geek:
Excellent!

Dale also has buck teeth. Is it PC to still say that?? That's how it was described when I was a kid though. :cautious:

How about tooth-challenged? :hilarious:

Sunday, con’t

We’d made it halfway through the ornament hunt.

Before looking for those pesky chipmunks, I told Em I wanted to see the gingerbread US Capitol. We checked inside the Liberty Inn (not Liberty Tree Tavern, @LadyBelle 😉) because the restaurant had featured gingerbread displays in previous years. Nothing there, so we headed into the rotunda of The American Adventure.

Success!

What a labor of love! Such intricate (and tiny!) details! I think I may be more impressed by this display than I was by the GF gingerbread house. (Unlike the couple in the top left of the first picture who don’t even seem aware of the impressive creation next to them. :in pain:)

We did glance around for another wreath before making our way to the gift shop.....where I was immediately distracted by new “state-themed” merchandise.

I’m sorry but this shirt made me LOL. But you have to understand that I grew up with a dad who mercilessly mocked New Jersey (he was from Long Island) and teased my mom about being raised in the town with the State Penitentiary (to this day my mother insists the prison is in Woodbridge, NOT Rahway.)

Lest anyone think I am anti-Jersey, I have fond memories of summers with my grandparents, trips to the Jersey shore and fun with my cousins. (I was even a resident of the state as a toddler.)

This has been home for the last 30 years.

Look, it’s Chip and Dale! But holding a peach, not an ornament.

Nothing says the South like a Mason jar!

Ahh, there’s the wreath!

If you’ve ever been in one of the shops in Italy, you may have seen the ornate (yet creepy) masks for sale. Poor Dale had to stand in a wreath surrounded by smaller versions of the masks.

(Yet he looks ready to bonk unsuspecting patrons entering the store on the head!)

Germany was busy.

It took a little while to find this one.

Have to be honest.....not a fan of Helga and the Nutcracker storyteller being replaced by this “lively” German band.

What is uniquely Christmas here? The Santa hat on the accordion player? The red vest and strappy sandals on the Hooters gal? (Pictures do not do her endowment justice.)

Onward we went!

Endowment. :hilarious: I didn't even notice her endowment. I couldn't get past those shoes! :jawdrop: They don't really scream German entertainment to me, Real Housewives of something or another but not German music.
And might I add she was no spring chicken....:cautious:
I'm so lucky that I'm reading this on my lunch break because I am honestly laughing out loud at my desk!! Those leiderhosen aren't supposed to fit quite that snuggly either...I can only start to fathom the amount of chafing taking place. Yikes!!

We typically bypass China on our Epcot visits. Neither of us can stomach 360 degree movies and there are other countries where we’d rather dine. (Though we did enjoy the food at our one visit to Nine Dragons.)

The ornament hunt gave us a reason to explore this pavilion and I’m glad we did.

We caught a performance of the lion dance, celebrating the Chinese New Year.

The acrobatics were amazing and the lion never stopped moving. We were exhausted just watching!

Hooters gal? :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious:

And the Nutcracker looks looks like he wants to quit his job.

I could maybe understand the band for evening entertainment, as most (if not all) of the pavilions have more live entertainment at night. I'd far prefer Helga and the storyteller to be there, at least for daytime (more family-centric) entertainment.

Maybe Dale was trying to get people's attention so they take him away from the creepy masks? :D

So they replaced a Christmas show with something that is a cross between Real Housewives and Christmas Jersey Shore Style? No offense to anyone from the Jersey Shore. Does Germany have a Germany Shore Show? Hmmmm

I like this guy! I never saw the show, but I did see him walking into the Pavilion once. I had to stop and watch him walk in.
