Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

The only possible use I could come up with was for creating big fireball effects. Still sounds dangerous though!

Nope. It definitely said liquid oxygen. I know what LN2 is, I've frozen cell lines down before. I wouldn't have thought that remarkable at all.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

What does WDW use liquid oxygen for? I've seen tanks backstage. Given O-town needs it for water purification and hospitals really need it for high flow O2, will WDW be able or should be able to get the LOX they need? Just curious, cause I've heard RCID just use chlorine for potable water, so...

News Chapek FIRED, Iger New CEO

Seems like something very bad is about to happen and Iger wants to be sure that Chapek is the face of that badness.

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

I still don't understand how this thing seems to hum on the weekends and continues to spurt and stutter during weekdays, after a month of operations, and the crush of the Xmas crowds. You'd think that if it had done as well as it had to this point that the major problems would be ironed out...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Don't give up on riding yet today. Just as info, Friday was pretty awful operationally too, and when it finally got humming around 4-5 pm (there had been 3 lengthy breakdowns), it churned through some 40 BG before the park closed. Last group called was 70. Some folks didn't get to ride, but I...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Ok, good to know. I have suspicions about this, and I noticed that cast members got very evasive about certain questions I had after having ridden it twice this past weekend. Please let us know if you learn more, if you're allowed to say.

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Martin-- How many ride vehicle groups of 8 are there in the ride? I would imagine bare bones would have to be 4 cycles, meaning 32 RVs, one cycling in to load from buffer queue, one cycling onto the track from load areas, one cycling from the show to unload, and one in the buffer queue. But I...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Not in this case. Because of all the delays that day, the outdoor queue was completely full. We waited an hour in line to ride, and that’s with the line going at a pretty good clip. Yet, mysteriously there were far fewer cast members working it that night than the next day, when we were lucky...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Random question for those of you like me who were in agony on Friday with the boarding groups. They stopped at 70 and I just got on. I noticed that when I got on at like 730 pm or so, there were only 3 or 4 cast members arranging folks into groups for interrogation in our hallway. When I rode...

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

I’m pretty sure the number of well trained cast members is actually VITAL to the continued smooth operation of the attraction. They may cut it back slightly once all the kinks are 100% ironed out, but I think it can’t be by a lot if they want to keep the attraction uptime reasonable to meet...

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

But where do they load? There are only 4 load rooms. Load time is of the essence. So is unload.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

Lefou I'm afraid I've been thinking... This topic may be verboten about Rise, so mods, please feel free to delete. However after riding it twice this weekend, something occurred to me... Where are the ECVs? I haven't seen any. How are folks with impaired mobility being accommodated? Cause I...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Yeah I think that's right. Ok, did not realize said FP was good for RotR. I question the wisdom of this if this is an ongoing problem and heading into a holiday weekend. It will only exacerbate the problem further and result in a lot of upset guests.

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

And I'm fine with that. My understanding is that the FP is NOT good for Rise. In fact, how does that make sense if these are systemic issues heading into a holiday weekend, where we might be in the same boat again. That will only make the problem worse.

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Still sitting here with BG 67.... sigh.... What are they going to do for those of us with APs? What am I going to do with a 1 day park hopper? Are they not giving out FPs for ROTR? Anyone know?

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

So I have group 67 right now. We've had 2 lengthy downtimes today already. If things continue as is, there are an awful lot of FPs to be handed out. How is that going to work without cascading the problem down the line? Will they limit the number of BGs tomorrow?

Ex-Disney accountant alleges major accounting fraud in parks and resorts division

Just realized there are some really massive ways they might be overstating revenue. One example is vacation packages. They might be charging to revenue the rack rate of the room at the time the guest is staying rather than the discounted rate that is implicit in the actual price paid for the...

New Special for Christmas Week 12/21-12/26

When is the last time we actually saw a Christmas week deal? Wow, things must be off...... and that's with what should be a fully operational battle station (oops, meant land) in DHS. If this isn't a sign of an impending recession, not sure what is.
