I started with the XTi from canon and found it really easy to begin with. Then moved to the XSi which my gf uses and she has never touched a dslr till that one and sometimes gets better pictures than me.

Plastic bag, or goes in to my Crumpler shoulder bag, or if I have my backpack goes in there...unless if I want to do photos on the ride.. Then its rain gear piece...but have yet to shoot on a water ride.
