    Security at the Park Entrance

Children are not told to "get out." As I mentioned already, the security host/hostess tells the parent(s) that everyone must pass through the scanner. Parents instruct their children from there. Occasionally, a misbehaving child will, um, misbehave. In that case, the parent is asked to...

    Security at the Park Entrance

The expectation is that, if able and willing, persons are expected to exit their mobility vehicle. When a stroller with a child old enough to exit and walk through the scanning device on their own approaches, parents are told that everyone needs to pass through the scanner. At that point, they...

    Security at the Park Entrance

Yes. So much so that they have separate lines and having kids exit strollers is policy for the reason I stated previously. But as I also mentioned, there are alternate procedures for kids unwilling to exit their stroller or adults unable to exit their scooters as well as folks with medical...

    Security at the Park Entrance

I worked in Disney Security for several months. For the first few, I did guest screening, primarily at EPCOT, but also at MK and TTC. In my experience, while it's true that some security hosts are a bit more "magical" than others, everyone is doing their best to get guests into the parks as...

    Best ride at Magic Kingdom?

Hmm, for me, many of these rides are not really directly comparable to each other. If I was forced to choose one "best" ride from among these, I couldn't because I like them all for different reasons. It would have made more sense to list only coaster rides (SM, BTMR, 7DMT, TRON), or just...

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad vs Pirates of the Caribbean

The rides aren't comparable. But I will say this: the DL version of BTMR is better.

Why is WDW so bad at utilizing their space while Disneyland (with much less space) is so good at it?

I have two opinions on this. 1. Walt was the "parks guy" and Roy was the bean counter. I'm sure Walt was involved in the actual design/layout of MK, but he was not there for any of the construction. MAYBE he was less involved in the design of that park (I'm sure this is knowable, I just...

Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain vs Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Those BTMR FX make all the difference for me. LOL! Grizzly River Run is a "standard" river rapids ride, but they did it good at DCA. Love that ride.

Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain vs Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Have you ridden BTMR at DL? They are the same ride, but the DL version has lots of FX in the climax (final hill in the mountain) that either don't work, or don't exist here. Honestly, A fairer comparison would be Expedition Everest and Matterhorn Bobsleds. In that event I'd go for Matterhorn...

So You Can't Stand The Small World Song, Eh?

Eww! LOL! You have my sympathy.

Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain vs Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

I wouldn't even compare these two. Expedition Everest is a more conventional coaster, and it's fun, but Guardians is a very different ride. I love both, but like Guardians more.

To those who rode the original 20k under the sea at DW, can you share your experience?

I never got to ride 20,000 Leagues. It was gone before my first visit to WDW. I have ridden the submarine ride at DL many times but always wished I could have ridden the original at WDW. Check out this amazing video someone shared (on this site) of the ride in a split-screen view showing you...

    Swiss Family Treehouse Delete

Well, they had the thing at Disneyland and switched to Tarzan for a while, and have now reverted. Personally, while I loved Disney's version of Tarzan, I have a deeper affection for SFR, probably because I'm a Boomer. LOL! If I had my druthers, we'd still have a 20,000 Leagues sub ride. =]

So You Can't Stand The Small World Song, Eh?

Ahh, It's a Small World. The ride evokes such love, and hate. LOL! The song, that wonderful ditty that burrows into your brain and takes over. Personally, I love the ride and have no problem with the song. I love the message and the song is the thread that connects all the nationalities of...

News Test Track to be reimagined

Nope. My first visit to WDW was in 2005. I see WoM closed in 1996.

News Test Track to be reimagined

I wouldn't be mad about Wreck it Ralph! LOL!

News Test Track to be reimagined

I agree. Pretty disappointing that they are "reaching into the past" for inspiration. Although Radiator Springs Racers at DCA is the same ride system, they hit it out of the park with the theming. It's just an amazing ride and an awesome element of Cars Land. Test Track has never impressed...

What is you guys' opinion on the universal studios theme parks?

Disney sets the standard for theme parks. In my experience, Universal is the only competitor who even comes close, but they still don't hit the mark. Their build-out of the Harry Potter areas really upped their game in my opinion. Interestingly, Disney could have had HP, but passed.

Anyone prefer Magic Kingdom over Disneyland?

It's interesting that you can assert that DL's shared rides are better without ever having visited DL. However, you are correct. That is true in every case. Big Thunder Mtn RR, Space Mtn, Astro Blasters (Buzz Lightyear at WDW) are all better. There are other examples too. Don't get me...

What is the best ride you have ever been on?

The answer to this question is not a simple one. LOL! For me, there are different elements of "best." For sheer fun and immersion, I think GOTG, Cosmic Rewind is the best. The intro, backstory, FX, ride system, everything all works so well together, and then there's the MUSIC! So yeah, I...
