Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

I think it's insane to not find the value in a kinetic sculpture. If you're limiting yourself to just hidden coasters or mine trains, you're limiting what the industry can offer in terms of theme. It's like when walking near or under the Hulk, framed in such a way as to be visually pleasing and...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

Exposed coaster track is the dealbreaker for you? If you go to a theme park, you want every single coaster to just be another minetrain or hidden in the dark? You can't see the value in coaster track representing themes or ideas in the abstract?

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

Judging from the bio's photos, the land will be impressive regardless of whether you're familiar with the material or not. I've only seen the first Fantastic Beasts film and I really have no need to see the others, but this land looks engaging despite my lack of familiarity. Theme parks are not...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens May 22 2025

Those things aren't even the same design language. Universal's 90s post-modernism versus Disney's bad emulation of Winter Park's Mediterranean revival. The Celestial Park aesthetic seems very clearly inspired by industrial revolution era World's Fairs.

    Coco Boat Ride Mexico Pavilion

People were still paying full price to get into Hollywood Studios in 2017 when it only had 4 rides open, so I'd say that consumer standards for what they will accept is pretty low.

    Good Story On Costs

I'm under no illusion that UK parks can really match theme parks in the U.S., but a lot of parks throughout Europe do seem a lot more interesting to me. I feel like I could spend a few days at Europa Park and not be able to see it all.

    Good Story On Costs

No narrative being pushed, just curious about why people would choose to fly farther for what I thought was significantly more expensive.

    Good Story On Costs

Does DLP have a bad reputation in general in the UK? I definitely see the points you're making, but I'm surprised how many people travel to Orlando as opposed to just going to Paris, which I assume must be cheaper and easier?

    Good Story On Costs

If you're in the UK, why choose WDW over DLP? Also, why not other parks like Efteling or Europa Park with their own lodging/resorts?

News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

I think you could probably throw in Tiana's not meeting capacity expectations due to its frequent down time.

    2023 attendance numbers are out

The first paragraph I wrote refers to TEA 2023 and how I think the numbers are incorrect and I wouldn't put it past Disney to have provided incorrect or manipulated data if TEA had asked for it. The paragraph you just cited is where I go on to talk about how I think the latest earnings report is...

    2023 attendance numbers are out

Where do they get the numbers from? How do you think low summer attendance would affect yearly figures? I'm just a stranger on the Internet, but I doubt that Magic Kingdom seeing less than 25,000 people a day over a historically busy period results in these kinds of numbers.

    2023 attendance numbers are out

Yeah, that's what I found to be suspicious. I live 30 minutes from Magic Kingdom and go to WDW parks fairly often (once or twice a month at minimum) but made 9 trips out to Disneyland last year. That park (and DCA) were significantly busier than Magic Kingdom on every trip I made and the WDW...

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Looks like the new TEA report is out: https://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:us:13691780-8574-4346-89a1-7841afe1c597 3.4% increase in attendance at Magic Kingdom from 2022? I think the numbers are very wrong. That park was unusually quiet through April, May and June of last year.

Refurbishment coming to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort lobby

I've seen pics of the new store, but last I heard, I thought that areas of the lobby had been repainted. I was under the impression that a lot of theming elements would be torn out in favor of something generic and I was curious how much had occurred.

Refurbishment coming to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort lobby

I was just looking for information on this, but going over there to check myself is a hassle. Does the lobby still have construction walls up and has anything changed other than new paint?

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

I didn't hear anything about it, but when I went on the 5th, it was wildly crowded, to the point where they had to direct people to park in the HR lot. If you mean my channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@PoseidonEntertainment Then, yes

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

After reading through the last few pages, I wanted to make the point that WDW appears to have really driven away locals. Earlier in the thread, I mentioned how when I went to SeaWorld earlier in the month to preview Penguin Trek, the park was incredibly crowded when compared to what I've been...
