Disney Genie and Genie+ at Walt Disney World

My assumption was that, at least at the beginning, the amount of people that would allocate for the Lighting Lanes/Fast Pass would be the same as pre-Genie+ so the standby wait times wouldn't be affected at all. Glad that seems to be the case so far.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

The 585k people who died of Covid in the US all caught it from someone else. I totally believe that's what he thinks, but it blows my mind that people don't realize that even if they're fine with catching Covid themselves, that also means they need to be fine with killing anyone else who catches...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I think they picked the best compromise because there's no great solution. We've known for a while that the vaccine both protects the person and also prevents infecting other people. So the CDC could have come out with this recommendation quite a while ago if antimaskers didn't everything...

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

The obvious answer is Disney says all vaccinated people can go maskless and all unvaccinated people have to wear masks. Problem solved! No unvaccinated person would ever lie about that and go maskless right??? Alternatively since it's impossible to tell who is vaccinated and unvaccinated...

    Masks at WDW

These are not equivalent... there continues to be more and more evidence that masks make a significant dent in infection rates, and while not perfect, it's something everyone needs to do to be a part of controlling the spread. It's not about the person wearing the mask, it's preventing that...

What is your timeline for Disney being back to normal again?

Achieving herd immunity will kill more Americans than all our wars combined. If the collective effort of not eating inside a Applebees means saving millions of lives from something entirely preventable, then yeah, I'm pretty content with not doing that for a year or two.

Changing plans based on new discounts

What I've found fascinating is how much the room availability has varied over the last month. Dates that weren't available at all when booking opened up on Jan 6th for the Disney room-only discounts are now available a month later. Also 3rd party sites like Orbitz (where you can stack discounts...

Are the Dining Plans worth it for people who don't drink alcohol

Upgrading from a "free" plan will almost always save you money assuming you want to eat at table service restaurants. It's $23 extra to upgrade to the standard plan, and most TS meals are at or above that price. So throw in drinks and dessert and it's almost a no-brainer to upgrade if you got...

Are the Dining Plans worth it for people who don't drink alcohol

The numbers come from doing the algebra based on $55 for QS plan, $78 for TS, and $139 for Deluxe. Though in double checking this, I forgot the 2 snacks you also get with the Deluxe plan, which messes up the math. So more realistically given that a snack would be valued at $7, then it comes out...

Are the Dining Plans worth it for people who don't drink alcohol

Doing the math based on 2020 prices, this is how much Disney calculates each type of meal is worth (edited to fix math based on discussion below): Snack: $7 Quick Service: $20 Table Service: $44 So if you typically spend under those prices for those types of meals, then it's better to pay out...

    Surprising kids with a trip

I remember my parents surprising me on the morning of my 5th birthday that we were going to fly to Disneyland that morning and I needed to hurry up and get dressed so we could make our flight. That was awesome. For our other Disney trips I was definitely more involved and knew ahead of time...

    UK/EU Ultimate Tickets

I'm going to piggyback on this discussion. I'm a UK citizen but in the States at the moment, with family still in England. Can my brother buy the ultimate ticket using his UK address/CC, and then gift them to me to use and link with my MDE to get the Fastpass+ in advance? I wasn't sure if the...
