The worst decision WDW ever made?

You'd have been better off in a bond fund over the last 10 years, despite the bond market being negative over the last five years. Wild.

The worst decision WDW ever made?

DIS is currently trading at $118.96 (at the moment I'm typing this), which is only .10¢ more than it was trading for at the close on July 17, 2015 ($118.86). Besides the COVID era hill climb and subsequent steep drop, it's more of a kid coaster or omnimover dark ride.

DHS What should they do with Animation Courtyard?

Not saying this is exactly what I would have wanted, but it has always seemed to me a missed opportunity to not have more cohesion and lands grouped by studio, rather than single IP. For example, like I mentioned above, Animation Courtyard could have been expanded upon to be a place to park...

DHS What should they do with Animation Courtyard?

I thought that an easy/cheap fix to the GMR would have been to make it all Disney/Pixar themed. Start with Steamboat Willie go through the decades of Disney movie making. Then, again, for relatively cheap they could have made AC into Toon Town and had MMRR the flagship ride there (as it is in DLR).

WSJ: Even Disney Is Worried About The High Cost Of A Disney Vacation (gift link)

Yes, all vacations are by definition a "luxury expense". My OP was in response to the disposable income discussion, not in relation to Disney specifically and if it is a "luxury vacation/resort". Given how it is, however, not essential to survival, it's therefore a "luxury expense". Funny...

WSJ: Even Disney Is Worried About The High Cost Of A Disney Vacation (gift link)

True. Not disagreeing there. However, that is one very specific example. In general, travel is a lot more affordable/accessible than in previous generations. Europe and the Caribbean, in particular, are relatively cheap and easy to access. My parents were going to Lake Erie and Ocean City...

WSJ: Even Disney Is Worried About The High Cost Of A Disney Vacation (gift link)

I saw some numbers on this a little while back, but I won't even pretend to remember them even roughly. What it boiled down to though was essentially: "The essential items were affordable while the luxury items were expensive, but now, the essentials are expensive while the luxury is...

Getting offended over the term "Pixie Dusting" reminds me of the Harry Potter fan forums where people treat the term "Mudblood" as if it were a real-life slur.

WSJ: Even Disney Is Worried About The High Cost Of A Disney Vacation (gift link)

I'm not sure how to spell this out, but Walt Disney World Resort hosts a Super Bowl Parade for the Super Bowl MVP the day after the Super Bowl at the Magic Kingdom Park. The tweet was about Philadelphia Eagles fans at Magic Kingdom lining up on Main Street for the Super Bowl Parade that was in...

Less ala carte and more all-inclusive feel. I'm fine with paying more, but I want some guarantees.

WSJ: Even Disney Is Worried About The High Cost Of A Disney Vacation (gift link)

Well, it's not a normal Disney parade. It's the Magic Kingdom Parade with the Super Bowl MVP, which was why it applied, but wasn't the point. You said the vloggers were free advertisers. The majority of non-Disney people have no clue who the vloggers are, nor care about them, as evidenced by a...

WSJ: Even Disney Is Worried About The High Cost Of A Disney Vacation (gift link)

I'm not sure I get your point. I'm a sports fan, with long-time season tickets to Penn State, and previously had APs to WDW. It's possible to have multiple interests. These people are part of that 20%, but they choose to vacation in ski towns or all-inclusive island resorts. They'd take a...

WSJ: Even Disney Is Worried About The High Cost Of A Disney Vacation (gift link)

Right. That's what we might be watching, but my question is if the younger generation is? What/who is directing them there? Completely anecdotal, but I sent a DFB Guide tweet to a college buddy group chat, because it was in regards to Jalen Hurts and the Magic Kingdom Parade for the Eagles...

WSJ: Even Disney Is Worried About The High Cost Of A Disney Vacation (gift link)

I'm just word vomiting here without a point to make, really. My wife and I are Millennials born in the early 1990s. So, we are 90s kids that grew up during the Disney Decade. Her and I both only went to WDW once as kids, since we came from very middle class households. However, we grew up, not...

WSJ: Even Disney Is Worried About The High Cost Of A Disney Vacation (gift link)

We are heading down in a few weeks, because as of now WDW still provides value to us, and there is still a nostalgic pull (although that is quickly fading). However, with that said, with the way they are trending, they will soon be pricing us out for our perceived value. Currently, we have a 4y...

Magic Kingdom Had a Lot More Stuff!

Change is inevitable, but doesn't mean it has to be lazy. Using the new Carsland for example, I'm fine with them getting rid of TSI, even though I find it all aesthetically pleasing and enjoy a relaxing riverboat ride. However, they could have literally taken an almost exact ride/track layout...

Would building Cars Land in DHS have fixed things?

With the caveat being that I'm forced to shoehorn Movie IP into anything/everything new, then I pretty much agree with you. However, I would have liked to have seen MMRR in Animation Courtyard, and to have figured something out with GMR. As for MK, again with the caveat that it has to be Movie...
