Originally everything under the horizontal yellow band was open to the exterior.

I wonder if the "World of Motion" nods will be mostly in the queue. Let the queue tell the story of World of Motion and it's history lesson on transportation...and then we hop on the ride vehicle and the scenes are just slight nods.

Tower of Terror and Spiderman also have seatbelts like this. I wouldn't judge it by that.

I think the painted flats work fine for Nintendo...as the background to most of the original games were just flat looking backgrounds.
