Will anyone stay on site any longer?

I mean, the rooms look nice and the pool looks nicer than Contemp's, but the draw of the Contemporary for me is history, monorail, fireworks view. Those have value to me.

Is this it after Guardians: Cosmic Rewind ?

Attendance does not equal revenue though. I would say most stockholders are probably more interesting in profit vs. people. I agree that Universal is growing its interest. Personally I know a lot of people who will travel across the country for Harry Potter, but very few who would travel for...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I assume each person would have some level of antibodies from one shot; however, the result of this study was in May 2021. At that point, vaccination rates were lower. Per the study "CDC estimates that 57.0% of US adults aged 18 years and older had received 1 dose or more of vaccine by May 2021."

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Here's the actual study, which clearly states in the abstract's conclusion "Despite weighting to adjust for demographic differences, these findings from a national sample of blood donors may not be representative of the entire US population." Later, in the Limitations section, it notes: "Fourth...

Dining in Disney hotels if staying off site

Comping parking for paying customers isn't a scam, but by definition lying to gain access kinda is. I think Disney wants people to come to their hotels to visit, eat/drink, and shop, but people parking at a hotel and then walking to a park is the reason we have guards limiting access today.

The World's Most Magical Celebration - Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary

Is it just me, or does the 50, when connected to the circle, kinda look like 69?

The World's Most Magical Celebration - Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary

I'm guessing there were cost savings or "branding" ideas behind the choice. Perhaps the original intent was to have something similar to the Magic Happens parade at Disneyland, which features some very similar coloring. (Image from touringplans.com. There's also a video there...

Poll: Is Genie+ a financially sound business move for Disney?

Certainly not everyone of a specific age group is going to have the same wants, needs, expectations, or priorities. However, I think Disney decision makers believe there is no shortage of new market.

Poll: Is Genie+ a financially sound business move for Disney?

I'm guessing up and coming adults/parents, Gen Z and younger Millennials - many of whom prioritize experiences over things and grew up with the Disney Channel/Disney Jr. on their tvs. Meanwhile the Boomer and Gen X generations are becoming grandparents, meaning they have a new emotional...

    Guess the 50 Golden Statues

I mean, they could put them outside the GotG ride with a sign that says "We couldn't build this in time for the 50th, so enjoy this statue in the meantime"

    Guess the 50 Golden Statues

I saw that too. Interesting marketing with the Happy Meals. Rocket and Groot are on the leaked list.

Main feature pool refurbishments scheduled at Disney's Contemporary Resort and Fort Wilderness Resort

2023 is only 16 months from now. I've got family planning vacations that far out. I hope the lengthy refurb of the Contemp pool means they're making some significant changes to improve the pool and pool deck atmosphere.

    Guess the 50 Golden Statues

Hmmmm. I think Frozone's wife has the most iconic line. But if we're sticking with a "sidekick" theme throughout the statues (with the exception of Mickey and Minnie -- are are they sidekicks to Walt?), I guess Frozone makes sense. 🤷‍♀️

    Guess the 50 Golden Statues

Ugh. I like Frozone, but the validity of the leaked list makes me sad. I don't think I understand what the point of the 50 statues is. I assume now that they're just 50 statues that they could tie in to existing attractions or something. I assume since they plugged Incredibles into Contemp, the...

Destinations Other Than Disneyland: Where To?

If you get a chance, look at the menu for Monkeypod Kitchen. It's my favorite place to eat on the island.

    All-virtual lines?

You mean like the play area for Dumbo? That area is great for people who have kids. If it's just a room to sit in with a pager, meh.

Transport between Universal and Disney for a split stay.

You could potentially rent a car just for the day if you wanted to. We did that when we went from Disney to Port Canaveral for a cruise. It was easy renting on Disney property. Not sure about returns in the Uni area though. At that time it was cheap, but with the shortage of rentals now, that...
