    New Animal Kingdom Bus Stops

I agree. I drive in there 10-14 times a day and wish they would plant some bushes or something there. The small building they are constructing by in the median is a new driver restroom and waiting area.

Tell me about your experience moving to Orlando

It only took about a week to be hired by Disney. We applied while still living in Delaware, but used our friends address here in Florida on the application. We have been told that if you have an out of state address, the move you to the bottom of the pile. Mainly because of the time involved...

    New Gillig Buses

I'll do a seat count when I go in tonight. Got an overtime shift at AK from 6pm-1:15am. The bus is considered full at 72 people.

    New Gillig Buses

Your picture is the old RTS buses with the three steps to get into. When fully loaded you feel like you're going to tip over making turns. They are also very slow and produce a lot of exhaust and soot. The new buses have exhaust scrubbers that make them cleaner.

    New Gillig Buses

I just feel bad when I pull up and see some "experienced" (older) folks that are worn out and have a hard time climbing the stairs on a good day, let alone after spending the day out in the hot Florida sun.

    New Gillig Buses

Just remember, the Magical Express drivers are not CMs. They work for Mears Transportation.

    New Gillig Buses

They are 2013 Gillig Advantage buses straight off the assembly line in California. All Disney buses will eventually get the new retro red/grey paint scheme. The oldest Gilligs in the fleet were purchased in 2004.

    New Gillig Buses

They do kneel. Strollers are not permitted to be pushed on. Must be folded and secured.

    New Gillig Buses

The red and grey match our costumes. The grey shows less dirt and red is highly reflective at night improving visibility and safety.

    New Gillig Buses

Shift change at FIW (Fuel, Inspect, & Wash) located next to the MK Hess station just wouldn't work. That would actually take longer. An AK bus would have to travel to the MK area. Round trip is almost 40 minutes that the bus would be out of service instead of five or ten minutes. Plus there is...

    New Gillig Buses

We have to walk the exterior of the bus. We are responsible for any damage. If all visible damage is already noted on the log, then we are good. Then we need to enter the route code in the computer, set the mirrors and adjust the seat. It is for everyone's SAFETY that we examine the bus. You...

    New Gillig Buses

And remember folks, the front and back doors are the same size. Just because you have a Cadillac stroller does not mean you are entitled to enter through the back doors. The back doors are EXIT only. The driver cannot see people boarding, only disembarking, which is why the doors will close on...

    New Gillig Buses

The RTS bus is the old style bus that Disney used originally. They have three large steps you need to climb to get in and out. Also the wheelchair access is very limited due to the rear stairs folding out to load wheelchairs and ECVs. The Nova bus has the large windshield and doors and round...

    New Gillig Buses

The new Gillig buses have started to hit the roads at WDW. These buses feature the new Disney Transport paint scheme. These additions will help phase out the old RTS buses that require walking up stairs to board. I can't wait to get behind the wheel!!!
