I think you hit the nail on the head. We live in the age of instant gratification, and to have to wait--even just a little while--is unacceptable to most people. I personally don't mind a little wait if the setup for the attraction adds to the anticipation and/or excitement.

I'm in the midst of two books right now. I'm reading John Davies' A History Of Wales, but it's a thick, fairly academic read, so I'm also working on Be Our Guest: Perfecting The Art Of Customer Service. It's Disney's book on how to achieve better customer service, and it's great!
