Walkway between Shades of Green and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort to permanently close

Yeah don't give them any ideas. I could suddenly see a "resort fee" at SoG that supposedly pays for that lol.

Walkway between Shades of Green and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort to permanently close

I'm sure Disney didn't want to eliminate the benefit, but I'm guessing even with a crosswalk Disney doesn't want guests crossing a 4 lane highway on foot, just an accident waiting to happen. Maybe if enough people complain they'll think about building a pedestrian bridge- not off the table I'm...

Which hotel is best for our needs - Contemporary or Polynesian?

The rush to the transportation will happen right after the fireworks. I always advise to hang out in MK after the fireworks for at least an hour or so, and then the transport issue becomes much better after that initial crush after the fireworks. Shop a bit or ride a couple more rides, you'll...

Which hotel is best for our needs - Contemporary or Polynesian?

If both of your kids can walk most of the day and don't need a stroller, I would say there's not going to be a whole lot of difference as far as convenience. Yes you can walk to MK from Contemporary, but Poly is one monorail ride from both MK and Epcot, as well as having all the transportation...

    tearing during Mickey's Philarmagic?

Philharmagic was a hit right from the time it opened. I still don't know why they closed it.

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

I agree. I was an annual passholder from 1998-2017, and also was DVC. The prices went crazy, the service and offerings went down, and it seemed like it got more and more snobby with the extra ticket events and people comparing what suites at the deluxes they stayed in, and all of that was not...

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

Interesting that they are renewing Iger's contract, when he's about the same age as when they ousted Roy Jr., claiming he was too old to be on the board, and that they had an age rule.

Anyone have any pre-Boardwalk photos from Yacht and Beach Club view?

I stayed at the Beach Club shortly after it opened. I remember the boardwalk area just being a marshy looking area with tall reeds. When one of the castmembers told me they were planning to build another hotel there, I wasn't sure whether to believe him since the area didn't look like an easy...

The World's Most Magical Celebration - Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary

Can you imagine if they had had a fireworks spectacular for the 50th that included projections on the castle and music, starting with a snippet of the TV coverage of the park opening, and then clips from many different shows and parades etc. through the years. Think of the memories that would...

    Hello all! Potential new buyer

Yes I meant the DVC units, not that you had to book with DVC. Pretty much the only thing in that category, except maybe Bonnet Creek, but that's technically off property.

    Hello all! Potential new buyer

I agree, if you need condo style accommodations, like the 1 and 2 bedrooms, there is little choice on property except DVC. So that would be a factor among everything.

    Hello all! Potential new buyer

And of course Disney is going to show you are saving versus the outrageous rack rates of the deluxe resorts, but keep in mind, would you actually be taking all those trips at rack rates at the deluxe resorts if you didn't buy DVC? Or is Disney just locking you into taking more Disney trips...

    Price Increase 12/4

217?? Is that for Riviera? What in the hell... I was going to buy back in at some point, but after all the crap they've pulled the last 5 years, like making the new resorts a separate "tier", and changing the point charts and having to quickly backtrack, I doubt I will now. It's sad.

    Poly Question...

It depends if a view would wow you or not, or if it doesn't matter that much. That being said, if you request the 2nd or 3rd floor lake view, it is one of the most ideal view rooms in all of Disney World. It is a direct facing view of the castle and space mountain looking over a lake. Not off...

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

I know, not a popular opinion, but the Poly used to be a high end destination resort. It had upscale boutique shops, the lush fountain in the lobby, the golf carts giving you a tour and then taking you to your room, an actual pool that you could dive into next to a working volcano instead of a...

News Walt Disney World introduces new Disney Weekday Magic Ticket

I don't think WDW can ever be as special as it was during the 80s-00s again, unless they completely change the way they're doing things. And it makes me very sad.

Is the DVC business for sale?

I could see all the CRO resorts plus DVC being sold to a third party hotel group, like Marriott. That would make more sense. Then it would possibly be a plus for DVC owners if they were suddenly part of Marriott's timeshare program. Hilton would be another good choice. And Disney could still...

News Return of the Walt Disney World tram fleet tracker

Isn't there a busy overpriced drink stand just past the ticket windows? Hmm, must be just a coincidence.
