You just answered your own question. The theater has been blocked longer than it hasn't been blocked, that's why. Why would that be considered safe if no one can see it?

Sure. The main difference is that staying there or being an AP gets a benefit of the reservation system. Offsite users can still get FP+ at arrival. However, even now, it is better for them as they can get 3 at once without having to do RunDisney.

I was meaning that they would basically gut the Great Movie Ride and turn it into more of a dark ride, represented by several of their films, not just Frozen. I don't think the human-like deal would work either.

The Great Movie Ride would work. It needs updating. They could have just put it in there with some other Disney stuff and it would work.

IMHO, M:Space is the best ride in Future World. It's really the only "future" ride there and the closest thing most all of us would ever get to space travel. It would be a great shame for it to go away. I've never smelled vomit there.
