Guest of a DVC member- What am I allowed to do as a non-owner?

Just want to echo other recent posters--the DVC member ID card and photo ID are typically needed for discounts these days. It used to be that the resorts printed "DVC MEMBER" on all room keys for individuals staying on points--both members and non members alike. I do not believe that notation...

    DVC Employment

DVC job openings pop up on the Disney Careers site all the time. However, sales positions are usually for the ASAs--Advance Sales Associates. These are the folks who work in the DVC kiosks in parks and resort hotels. Their only job is to get prospects mildly interested in DVC and convince...

FastPass+’s Possible Impact on Standby Lines

The key at other parks will be the groupings of attractions. Take DHS. During testing, guests were limited to one FP+ from a group that included Toy Story Mania, RNR and LMA. With average daily attendance around 25,000, TSM and RNR have more than enough capacity for each guest to ride once...

    NextGen Deep Impact

Bravo! What is the ROI on a detailed building exterior or attraction queue? What is the ROI on a character meet n greet? What is the ROI on parades, street performers, fireworks displays and even attractions themselves? I am quite sure that they have ideas for reducing costs and...

Allowing all guests staying at Bay Lake Tower access to the Top Of The World lounge

Top of the World lounge is emerging as the most overrated experience in all of Walt Disney World, IMO. It's not Club 33, folks. Views and atmosphere in the park are much better. There aren't many places indoors where you can get a good view--reflections off the windows are distracting...

How easy is it to use DVC points for RCI property?

Some trade affiliation will continue. OP doesn't mention specific destinations, leading me to believe this is just a generic inquiry regarding availability of non-Disney destinations. Whether DVC trades through RCI, Interval or even builds-out its own Buena Vista Trading Company, some vehicle...

    Changing to BWV in October?

One Bedroom preferred garden/pool view will be easiest to get but no guarantees. If you have your sights set on a Studio, it will be much more difficult. Most of that period is already unavailable in a Standard View studio. (I own BWV points and just checked online.) BoardWalk View studio...

How easy is it to use DVC points for RCI property?

Trying not to weigh the conversation down with too many details, given what was posted I would encourage OP to consider buying into ANOTHER RCI timeshare and trading into DVC when looking to visit WDW. DVC is a very expensive timeshare. The buy-in cost is high (even resale) and the dues are...

    GF DVC looks terrible!

Ummm...that's completely false. All DVC resorts have villas which can be booked by cash-paying non-members. And the ONLY resort amenity which I can think of that is exclusive to members is access to the Bay Lake Tower's Top of the World lounge. ALL resort pools and water features are...

Do you think renting DVC points bothers Disney?

I'd say they are more concerned with undercutting Disney's nightly room rates. (Maybe that's what you meant to say?) If Disney quotes a price of $2000 for a given Deluxe stay and renting points will cost 1/3 of that amount, folks at Central Reservations will not be thrilled. Renting is...

Do you think renting DVC points bothers Disney?

Seems to me that you are glossing-over some of the most important aspects of using a broker. I'm most familiar with DVCRequest.com so I will specifically speak to their services. First, they've developed a name in the marketplace. If you are having trouble renting your points, then you should...

    Jambo vs. Kidani and BLT

Some people love staying Concierge. It's a pricey add-on (more points) so you need to figure out whether or not you will get your money's worth. They offer some intangibles like trip planning and ADR assistance but most of the value comes in the food offerings. There are only 5 villas in that...

    Jambo vs. Kidani and BLT

For the most part, I agree. The AKV Value rooms are moderate sized. Disney lists AKV Value at 316 sq ft. Coronado Springs rooms are 314 sq ft. POFQ are 315 sq ft. Four people would definitely be a tight fit--even more so to folks who are accustomed to extra breathing room in DVC...

what kind of deals do we get as dvc members on the dining plan? is

If you are hung up on the word "given", I'll re-phrase: Disney has offered us a vehicle for saving 60-70% in return for an up-front payment and we accepted the terms of that offer.

2012 Golden Tickets: SEA and Dolly Beat Out Disney In Most.

Your words, not mine. The only definitive comment I'll make is that I have no appreciation for a "best of" list which names Cedar Point as the #1 park in the world. CP is a fun distraction if you want to be twisted and turned in every possible direction by a myriad of steel coasters. But...

2012 Golden Tickets: SEA and Dolly Beat Out Disney In Most.

That may be perception but I don't see it as any sort of reality. Cedar Point's 2012 additions were a separately-ticketed dinosaur walk-through which was relocated from another Cedar Fair park and a pay-for-play FastPass clone. In 2011 they added the WindSeeker, a $5 million swing ride...

2012 Golden Tickets: SEA and Dolly Beat Out Disney In Most.

I live 40 miles from Cedar Point and have been there dozens of times. No blinders here regarding WDW but seriously...does anyone here consider Cedar Point to the the standard to which WDW should aspire??? The staff is ambivalent and barely english speaking (not an insult--they recruit...

Allowing all guests staying at Bay Lake Tower access to the Top Of The World lounge

I've yet to see a single report of it being even close to capacity so getting "first priority" is a non-issue. If memory serves, the max capacity of the lounge is listed around 70-80 while the outdoor viewing platform has space for around 300.

what kind of deals do we get as dvc members on the dining plan? is

Well, when you figure there are about 3000 DVC rooms at WDW alone, most holding up to 9 people, the cost is not insignificant. Let's take 3000 rooms times an average occupancy of 4 (probably low) and an average stay of 7 nights (52 stays per room, per year.) That alone is 624,000 meal vouchers...
