Different Ways to Save for Disney Trip

look for a local credit union. most credit unions have really low 'minimums'; mine is $5 for a savings account. even if they don't have a really convenient location, you can do so much of your banking online now. and with direct deposit, you can often choose more than one bank account to...

    Pretty Disheartening

i have the MDE app on my phone and was not having luck at 50ish days out. thought i'd never get the mine train, but i checked every morning when i woke up (like, still lying in bed) and ended up getting a few options on at least three days for FP+ for the mine train. still no luck with anna...

Have the love bugs arrived yet?

not so harmless to your car's paint if you're drying your own. something in the love bug's blood causes nasty deterioration on paint. DH was a mechanic when we lived in florida and saw it all the time.

POLL: To DDP or not to DDP?

google 'see you real soon disney dining spreadsheet'. plug in your info. it's INCREDIBLY accurate imho. if you're not feeling so excel-y, google 'disney dining plan calculator' - distripplanner(dot)com. it's less involved but not quite as accurate. i did it so many ways - including the old...

    Unsanitary situations in WDW

some people try not to let their diseases run their lives. when i was on chemo, i tried to live my life as normally as i could. if i had had a trip to disney planned, i would have gone and worn a mask.

POLL: To DDP or not to DDP?

yes. yes. yes. this is exactly it. it used to be a great value, even if you had to pay full price for DDP. i remember when it changed to appetizer OR dessert - that was still a savings for us. once they pulled the tips AND raised the price, we stopped using it. i can see where it might be a...

Different Ways to Save for Disney Trip

hey, it's disney. it's not always just about staying in a deluxe room on property and comparing that to a room at the four seasons. additionally, my comment was based on my experiences trying to book value/resorts with discounts vs. with free dining offered. it's different for different...

Different Ways to Save for Disney Trip

they might not be worth the price *to you*. free dining isn't always free depending on the rack rate for the room versus current promotions. i didn't say free dining is NEVER worth it. additionally, even the quick service dining plan is a waste of money for many people - dh and myself...

Different Ways to Save for Disney Trip

free dining isn't always worth it because you have to pay full price for the room. rooms are often discounted 20-30% and that can often be a bigger savings, especially considering the dining plan may include things you wouldn't normally eat (i.e.: dessert at lunch and dinner every day). really...

POLL: To DDP or not to DDP?

free dining is never free - like @LAKid53 said, you have to pay rack rate for rooms. and there are so often discounts on rooms - 20% here, 30% there - that it is almost never necessary to pay full price for a room. back when it was first really introduced, it was a great deal. now, not so...

Different Ways to Save for Disney Trip

i've been doing the target red card thing and buying disney gift cards with the 5% savings. i've already purchased $1300 in gift cards - and that only cost me $1235! i've used them to pay for our tickets and have almost enough to pay for our room. we also save our change - dh has an old...
