The ins and outs of AOA

We stayed in the Little Mermaid section and loved it. So many photo ops with our kids! They loved the big blue pool and the music piped in under water! The stroll through the Cars section was so much fun.....it is very well done and puts you in Radiator Springs! Enjoy!!!

    The gift of Disney!

I like @Tuvalu's idea, but possibly add a Mickey and Minnie doll of some sort holding the information which is enclosed in an envelope! I also second the idea of filming it --- you could then add film of the trip itself as a great memento of the entire package!

    Enough time??

    1. The drive time from your hotel to AoA is hit or miss depending on so many circumstances.....we drove I-75 on a Saturday from Sweetwater (45 mins. south of Knoxville), Tennessee to St. Petersburg Fla - a trip that google said would take around 10 hrs and 30 mins of drive time and we made it...

    Coronado Springs Pool Construction

In our time at CSR we have some of the best bus service on property. This could just be luck and all timing of when we arrived, but it happened on multiple trips. The benefit of those walking around in suits is that they are not boarding buses to head to the parks so it often helps getting on...

    Christmas tips

My family went December 21-27 a few years ago and we very much enjoyed the trip. We scheduled breakfasts in the park before rope drop when possible and were at the rope very early when not possible. We kept close tabs on park attendance numbers to gauge whether or not we could go back to our...

Dining @ Disney- would love advice!

I know you said breakfast isn't necessarily your thing, but have you considered the Crystal Palace before MK actually opens? The breakfast food is outstanding and the walk there in the morning allows for some great photo ops before Main Street gets crowded.

Character greetings that no one knows about...

Our family has twice been fortunate enough to be the recipients of magical experiences for our kids due to inclement weather. The first time, we were dodging heavy rain and went into Town Hall and our oldest got to play with and get pictures with Goofy, Chip, Dale, and Pluto. We had about 5-10...

    Favorite WDW Standing Spots

Main Street USA after just entering the Magic Kingdom before park opening as we make our way toward the castle for breakfast. As my wife and 2 daughters stroll casually down a near empty, iconic path, I pause to watch and realize just how blessed we are to enjoy our time together in the...

    Fireworks Snob

We were at Disney last year over the 4th of July, but this year my family went to the fireworks with my parents in our hometown.....upon completion of the show my dad asks what we thought. We looked at each other and I offered the reply of: "Once you have been to Disney, you really don't care...

Worst part of the Resorts and why?

Not sure if this has already been posted, but me and my family REALLY dislike the check-out counters at every Disney resort we have ever stayed at!!!;)

What's the one thing you HAVE to have on your visit to WDW?

I have become quite fond of the beignets at POFQ. It makes for a nice evening activity for the family to walk over from POR to enjoy the FQ pool and snack on those tasty little treats!

Things for a Family With Young Kids to Do on the "Off" Days

We schedule a late character breakfast at one of the resorts, then hit up a boat ride to DTD from Riverside to let the kids spend the money they have worked so hard to save and then relax at our resort pool and enjoy being on vacation. We have found that after the travel from Ohio and a couple...

Port Orleans Riverside or Caribbean Beach?

Have stayed at POR in both mansion royal room and bayou....both are great. My family really enjoys to food court at Riverside both in the morning for breakfast and for the pasta at lunch. The boat to DTD is great and makes for a relaxing time to sit back and catch your breathe and take in some...

Which is your LEAST Favorite Park?

Another vote for AK. It just has never been appealing to my family. Jiminycr hit the nail on the head!!!

Is Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad too scary for a 5 year old girl?

My 5 year old daughter loved both. Splash is her favorite ride and BTMR was ranked near the top of her favorites list as well. But, as has been mentioned, it certainly depends on the child. My older daughter didn't want anything to do with either of them until she was at least 10! It has...

Resort Location - Important Factor or Not?

For our family, being on the moderate budget, location is of no concern. We base our stay more on resort theme and personal preference. However, if we could afford deluxe accommodations every trip, I believe we would opt to be on the monorail loop and in close proximity to the Magic Kingdom...

    Favorite rides

My 5 year old daughter gave Splash Mountain a try last year and we ended up riding it 2 more times that day as it went straight to the top of her favorites list! Definitely give it a try, I don't think it will disappoint! Our others include: 7DMT, Toy Story Midway Mania, Soarin', and PhilharMagic.

    Afternoon Breaks

We have ALWAYS made time for a break in the afternoon. We scheduled character breakfasts for before actual park opening when possible and hit rope drop when not possible. We go until lunch, either eating at a park or at our resort food court, then hit the room for air conditioning and rest...

    Babywearing Instead of Stroller

My wife and I did the carry/stroller rotation with our youngest and it worked pretty well. The nice thing with the carry option was that I could video while she snapped photos of our older child when she did meet and greets and it was a lot easier than maneuvering a stroller in many places!
