Character greetings that no one knows about...

A lot of the time if spare cast members aren't needed they will help with Pop Up sets. These can be random characters in random places. The most common that I know of is the back hallway behind Character Spot. I've spotted Queen of Hearts and Captain Hook there many times.

Our family has twice been fortunate enough to be the recipients of magical experiences for our kids due to inclement weather. The first time, we were dodging heavy rain and went into Town Hall and our oldest got to play with and get pictures with Goofy, Chip, Dale, and Pluto. We had about 5-10 minutes of time with them before anyone else came into the area that we were in! The second time, after just entering DHS at rope drop, I left my family to do the Toy Story Mania fast pass run. While I was gone, it started to again rain very heavy. I get a text from my wife telling me that they took cover in Animation Courtyard and I needed to hurry so that I could see our girls. I get there as quickly as possible and they are surrounded by Goofy, Eeyore, Pooh, Tigger, Chip and Dale. A CM asked if we would like our family picture, to which we gladly accepted and made our Christmas card that year!
So, long story short.....when bad weather hits, the characters often take cover too, you might luck into a group of them while seeking shelter yourself!

You know how I posted about how Cinderella and Prince Charming sometimes go into the lobby of the Grand Floridian for a while? Well, here's a video from YouTube showcasing the full cast from the 1900 Park Fare character dinner. The royal couple still waltzes to the sound of the lobby's house band, but this time, the stepfamily gets in on the fun...

Side note: the music playing here..."When You Wish Upon a Star", not only the theme for Pinocchio, but for Disney in general.

At AK you walk down to the first boat dock if I remember right and there always characters there.

At DHS the dance party had the most characters at one time. That was later at night but I can't remember exactly what building that was in??? I do remember the kids loved it. Might have been Disney play house???

This is the first thing that came to my mind. It's in the building that the Disney Jr. Playhouse Live takes place in. It's only during evening extra magic hours. We went in May 2014, and it wasn't very crowded, especially as it got later into the night. Characters randomly revolve. DD danced with Minnie, Mickey, Jake, Sofia & Annie from Little Einsteins that I can remember. I think Goofy may have been there as well. It was pretty cool, one of my favorite things we have gotten to do with our daughter in Disney. We have that planned for our trip next month!

Ah, you're referring to the Disney Junior Dance Party, my friend. A perfect way for your child to get some quality time with their Disney Junior friends.

BTW, I don't know if this is true or not, but now that Doc McStuffins is meeting guests, I'd expect that she'll be there.

Oooh exciting!! My little girl will be thrilled! We went to Hollywood & Vine to meet Doc last year, but she wasn't at the party or doing meet & greets outside of that yet.

I have to say if you want to meet a bunch of characters without waiting in line this was the place. It was EMH in DHS in Disney Jr. playhouse. They had a DJ playing music, some dancing alongs etc. That's the place to hit if Disney still does it. ? Those pics are from 2007 so I don't know if the dance party still happens. I probably saw 15-20 different characters in there over a half hour or so. I didn't count but there was a bunch of them at any given time.

They still do it! Definitely a lot of fun. No autographs or posed photos, but we still got some great candid photos. And the experience for DD dancing with some of her favorite characters was priceless. :) Highly recommend it to anyone!

Our kids were chosen by Aladdin and Jasmine for the magic carpets and then got the first picture for their "official" M&G after the ride. It was really cool!

Otherwise... We've been on the teacups when Alice rides. Never in our cup, though.

Anymore at WDW, the random M&G are fewer and farther between. Not sure why that is except just the chaos factor??

DL is exactly the opposite. There are more characters wandering around than there are scheduled M&Gs, and the CMs cannot tell you with any certainty when one will be around. I think that's because most of the DL people are locals who are way more interested in the rides and attractions than the characters. The lines were almost nill for characters in DL.
I agree with the DL comment. Was there in January and it was crazy how many characters were just wandering around!!! They are everywhere, and you get all the cool rare ones too.

Also, you are far more likely to see a random/wandering character during a hard ticket event, IMO. Last year, at MNSSHP, we saw Snow White in the standard M&G line near the Carousel and the Wicked Queen was running around behind the castle walls cackling, scowling and pointing at Snow White. It was really cool!

This reminds me of the "Dancing With Disney Stars" event at DCA from 2012 - mid 2014 but featured very rare characters at the Disneyland resort. Such as Clarice,Marie, and Clara Cluck.

Bumping the thread.

Recently, Disney announced something similar to that will be coming to the new Sunset Showcase at DHS. On December 5th, Club Disney will set up shop at the Showcase! Here, you can join Mickey and the gang and take to the dance floor in this electric club environment, where a DJ Club Host spins the perfect playlist mix of your favorite Radio Disney Top 40 songs as the floor and walls come alive with vivid images from classic Disney animation.

Club Disney will also feature a cool seating area and snack station, where you can refuel and recharge – both yourself and your electronic devices – before heading out for more adventures in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

But you better check it out while you can--because Club Disney won't last long. Why? Because on January 16th, Club Disney will become Club Villain, where you can step into a nightclub owned by Dr. Facilier, the voodoo villain from The Princess and the Frog, and enjoy New Orleans-inspired food and dance alongside villains like the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, the Evil Queen from Snow White, Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians, and the Mistress of All Evil herself, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.

I hope Club Disney will bring out some rare characters similar to Dancing With Disney.
