News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

We might know that, we certainly do now*...but the resorts are filled with guests who don't, and who expect (and rightfully so) that Disney will respect their own posted information. They certainly expect guests to respect their posted information -- and they have to create a workaround when...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

If there were turnstiles where Disney regularly controlled access to the viewing locations at published times or if little Suzzie's family paid for a dessert party/better viewing location, then yes, I'd be empathetic if someone else created a crowd control problem that prevented Suzzie's...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

How did the people who respected the information they were provided by Disney become the entitled, selfish greedy guests in this scenario, and the guests who created a crowd control problem at the front gates become the responsible ones...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

I suspect you actually understand that there has been a fundamental communication problem between Disney and resort guests on several issues the last few days, and that you know how/why that degraded the benefits of being an onsite guests....

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

You didn't pay to be "treated better" than non-AP holders but resort guests did pay for EMH (and because of that, earlier access to boarding groups.) I don't understand why you would feel you are entitled to that benefit any more than you'd be entitled to swim at the pool at GF just because you...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

EMH isn't a published benefit of an AP, so having an AP has nothing to do with what happened today. AP's were just like every other day guests today if they didn't have a resort room. I'm an AP, and I wouldn't expect a bit of benefit from EMH unless I had a resort reservation as well.

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Resort guests paid for a room that included EMH, whatever time that's held, and this morning the published and posted time for EMH was 6-8, not 6-7:20. I think most people would be just fine with them publishing/posting EMH as 6-7:20am today and general admission at 7:20 - 10pm today, if that's...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Access to the boarding groups should have been available to resort guests a few minutes ahead of day guests as a result of resort guests being in the park right at opening at 8am -- instead of entering at 8am and accessing the boarding groups at (for example) 8:05am. And with or without ROTR...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Disney shouldn't let day guests into a park ahead of resort guests when EMH is still going on. If a resort guest wants to wait to stroll into DHS until just a few minutes minutes prior to EMH completing so that they can already be in the park when it opens (because that's what EMH is), they...

News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

That's exactly what the advantage was for non-resort guests. They showed up at 7:20 during EMH, got into the park to degrade a hotel guest benefit, and then got access to boarding groups just like those who paid for a resort room. And it's much worse than 'silly.'

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

People do crazy, fearful stuff at amusement parks all the time -- for some people, that's the point. A ton of people will try the Skyliner out, but very few of them will be people who have true phobias. The people who ride will be people who have fears but feel confident they can reasonably...

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

I have a hard time figuring out how someone who is known to be truly claustrophobic and/or someone who has a true phobia about heights gets on a Skyliner cabin in the first place. Those people don't want to ride. There have been months of concern shared here from people who suspect the...

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

Surely they are using a duplex systems where the cast member could speak reassuringly to everyone at once, overriding outgoing comms from the cars for long enough to briefly check in a few times an hour: There was a problem in one of the stations, it doesn't affect your gondola's safety. If...

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

I mentioned earlier in the thread that I was trapped with my toddler on an open gondola once, and 45 minutes later, I was more than ready to call 911. I didn't do it, but I was seriously beginning to consider that option to try to get some information about what was happening and what to...

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

People keep saying how very unlikely this situation was. So, in a quick and dirty personal risk assessment at the head of the line for the Skyliner, most people probably jumped on and hoped for the best -- even with claustrophobia or other health issues that might make an evacuation necessary...

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

Strange and very unwise. Someone said it to your husband, you posted it here, guests who were trapped for three hours just got to read it. And I think most people who had been up there for 3 hours and read this would be rightfully thinking that their experience was, at best, being diminished...

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

Was too! Was not! Was too! Was not! Was too! Was not. I really think it's ill-advised to get into this kind of thing with a customer. There's really no reason.

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

This was honestly a little hard for me to read, but I'm super appreciative that you posted it. I'm seeing this through a whole new set of eyes. I would never voluntarily get in an open gondola (again), nor in an open Ferris wheel car, an open ski lift, a hot air balloon bucket. etc...
