    Happy Birthday Donald Duck!

I remember the 50th birthday celebration parades very well. Heck, I even remember the song. "Happy Birthday, it's Donald's birthday, happy happy birthday to you." And if he's 90 now, that means I'm... old too.

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Yup, you saw Ripley holding a pulse rifle, and the alien jumped out at you from the ceiling.

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

I wanted to love Soul, but the movie just fell flat. It seemed like a retread of other scenarios they've previously done before, the mechanics of the world-building changed from scene to scene depending on the needs of the plot. And for a movie centered around jazz, in a world where the likes...

    Never mind

This seems like the biggest reason we won't see a revival.

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

I actually saw Enchanted for the first time within the past year, and agree with that assessment. They deconstructed the tropes of Disney fairy tales quite cleverly, but ultimately reaffirmed the fundamental values of those tropes. Wish was just a series of decontextualized member berries.

Sweat The Small Stuff (When you are running a theme park)

We take our kids here once or twice each summer. Yes, I agree, it is very well run and maintained. It always looks pristine. Nearby Santa's Village is also immaculately kept.

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

Same reason why Princess Eilonwy has been shunned by the sorority.

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Question that I've always wondered. Why does a more expensive movie need so much more advertising than a cheap one? I get that a movie dumped into the theaters with little fanfare probably won't do well, but it seems to me that advertising will only get you to a certain ceiling, and beyond...

    SPOILER: The Acolyte -- Disney+ Star Wars -- begins June 5, 2024

I feel odd defending the prequels, but Anakin didn't turn on a dime, his internal struggle had been building for at least two films. He finally decided to takes sides when he walked in on Palpatine and Windu fighting.

    Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree

I ate here for the first time on my last trip, and for a burger and fries joint at a theme park, I was actually impressed. I'm not confident that a theme park can pull off barbeque, though, which takes a very specific set up and skill set to get right,

Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

I imagine Princess Eilonwy as the shunned, unpopular princess that all the mean, popular girls won't allow in the sorority. Particularly after that scene in Wreck It Ralph II, where she is noticeably absent.

Disney Legend Richard M. Sherman Dies at 95

How did I miss this news? I'm glad we got The Boys documentary while both he and his brother were still alive. The scene when Richard describes his reaction to learning about Walt's death is absolutely heart-breaking. Several decades removed from his passing and Richard still can't hold back...

Poll: For those who curbed visits or stopped visiting Disney Parks, what are your top reasons?

I still visit Disneyland, but I'm not planning a Disney World trip anytime in the near future. A couple of reasons: 1) With all the planning involved, including pre-booking, the idea of having to schedule so many things far in advanced has just soured me. Particularly now that I have two...

    E.P.C.O.T. 1989 home video

I was there that year too. This was the first trip to Disney World where my dad had a video camera at his disposal, and he recorded absolutely EVERYTHING, even rides where it was too dark to see anything on camera.

    General Star Wars News

The Hobbit movies also didn't try to retcon the plot of the Lord of the Rings, or completely change popular characters to make the plot happen. Their main failing was just trying to stretch out not enough story over three films... "like not enough butter spread over too much bread." Star Wars...

Did they? Of all the people giving interviews in this doc, he easily has the most screen time.

Jim Henson Idea Man (Disney+ Documentary)

Tellingly, one of the last Muppet projects Jim Henson ever did, and what has probably been the most enduring Muppet-Disney collaborations is Muppet Vision 3D. And it ends with the Muppets basically destroying the theater, in true Jim Henson Muppet fashion. The Idea Man documentary hit up the...

Jim Henson Idea Man (Disney+ Documentary)

I appreciated this as well. Probably nobody understood Jim Henson more than Frank Oz, and we're fortunate to still have him to relate his stories and experiences. I had forgotten just how wild and funky Sesame Street could be in the 1970s! I had also completely forgotten about the bits with...
