I think the goal is to make money by providing people entertainment. If it used to take 10 carnival rides to do that and now it can be done with 2 experiences then (whether we like it or not) they've innovated.

8 years is a long time. Besides the already mentioned berm and restaurant sites, 8 years is PLENTY of time to think big. DL 1.0 was built in 1 year. In 8 you could easily move backstage areas, parking garages, purchase land, bridge over roads, etc etc even with a few years for R&D.... the...

The custom droids surprisingly use AA and not rechargable - I imagine these are the same. Seems like a missed opprtunity - they could've had lightsaber/droid recharging stations throughout the land. Actually on second thought that'd be a disaster with people just charging their phones. Maybe...

This is the first video I've seen that seems to "prove" the pieces are metal. I have not seen them in person, but I'd say from the video they sound more like metal than they look ;)
