Canadian and UK point extension due to COVID

They didn't mention a timeline to me (probably because I was booking for the first week of January and my use month is December)

Canadian and UK point extension due to COVID

I didn't see this posted already... I was on the phone with DVC member services yesterday to book a trip for January 2022. I would normally do it online myself, but I wanted to see what I could do about points that I had banked from 2019 that I have been unable to use due to travel...

    Canadian paying "CASH" for DVC??

Fellow Canadian here (and also a finance guy). A few options: 1) Write a cheque and put "in US funds" on the cheque. Not a recommended way to do to as the bank charges a lot to cash the cheque, but it is an option 2) get a bank draft from your bank for the amount you need - this is the better...

    Yehaa Bob

Sucks that yee ha Bob got cut, but not surprised. How many acts have been cut without a real replacement in the past few years. Mulch Sweat & Sheers, cuts to the citizens of Hollywood, Off Kilter, Gi-tar Dan, and so on.. Unfortunately it seems par for the course when it comes to live...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

The big difference is the word "executive" in front of the chairman title. This tends to indicate an uncertainty with the new CEO. It means the chairman is actively involved in the day to day running of the company (which we've seen with Bob Iger), as opposed to just the chariman title who...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

That's what Net Positive means as per the definition they are using. If they can cover at least the variable costs then they are better off staying open than being closed. EG. If fixed costs are $100, and I can sell a ticket for $120, with variable costs of $110, I am covering my variable...

Trip Report Making Lemonade out of Lemons Fractal Family Trip Report - Completed

Exactly. Steph is able to function, do school, work etc, but when she tries to push herself hard in karate (the dojo she trains at came up with a modified post-concussion curriculum for her so she could still get her black belt) she gets dizzy. She did put a lot of pressure on herself to get...

Trip Report Making Lemonade out of Lemons Fractal Family Trip Report - Completed

Yeah it really sucks. In Steph's case it was 5 within 14 months, some mild and a couple that were bad (fractured orbital, broken nose along with the concussions). We had wanted her to retire after the first big one, but she was 18 so we couldn't force her to. No permanent damage thankfully...

Trip Report Making Lemonade out of Lemons Fractal Family Trip Report - Completed

Yeah, I've been pretty quiet for a while. I've been around, just not saying much. It took an @fractal trip report to get me back in (no offense to the other trip report writers I've enjoyed (looking at you @Tuvalu ))

Trip Report Making Lemonade out of Lemons Fractal Family Trip Report - Completed

Sorry to hear about @fractal jr having to retire due to concussions. My daughter had to retire from competitive kickboxing for the same reason (although her's were all related to the sport). It sucks that they have to give up something they love doing due to an injury that no one else can see...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Saved you some research - as per Disney's accounting policy in their annual report - " Revenues from annual pass sales are recognized ratably over the period for which the pass is available for use."

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Maybe, but you've got to consider the size of Disney as a whole. Material to Parks and Resorts? Possible but doubtful ($1,200 for an annual pass, equates to a 2-3 night stay at a delux resort) . Material to the consolidated WDC? doubtful.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Theoretically correct, but materiality factors in as well. While the correct accounting procedure is as you described (defer revenue and recognize over the term of the pass), if the total of all passes is relatively low, they could just take it all to income at some other time (e.g. first use...

Rumor Version of MaxPass coming to WDW in May?

Didn't see this posted anywhere. @marni1971 gets a mention... https://m.orlandoweekly.com/Blogs/archives/2019/06/17/disney-might-be-ready-to-finally-admit-that-their-current-fastpass-system-sucks?fbclid=IwAR1AscWuHiDVAjNzWszFSfgFCWE_3OyLXq7GDiMqSEN1N2worRBeStP-QIA

Breaking news from WESH this morning Construction accident near Disney

It looks like it was the new Marriot that was under construction. Not that it matters, but it's not on property that Disney owns.

Pre-Trip An August pre-trip report (with a mini Nov trip report thrown in)

In terms of Disney Stuff… I’ll do some quick points; 1) We had an early morning flight out of Buffalo. In Orlando Picked up our car (a Kia Soul), and went to AK. Had fun. In the evening Steph and I went to MK, while Liam and Tammy stayed at the hotel (Liam wanted to swim). Steph really...

Pre-Trip An August pre-trip report (with a mini Nov trip report thrown in)

Oh yeah…want to know what happened in November? OK, I’m not doing a full trip report, but I thought I’d at least give some details of what happened. Let’s start with the karate stuff As you may remember, Steph and Liam both qualified to represent Canada at the World Karate Championships. We...

Pre-Trip An August pre-trip report (with a mini Nov trip report thrown in)

Hi again everyone…did you miss me? LOL. Unfortunately, despite @Tuvalu ’s promised/promotion of a non-existent November trip report that I was supposed to write, I just got way too busy. I kind of dropped off the WDWMagic radar for a while, but now I’m slowly coming back…which is great...
