Kilimanjaro Safaris After Dark - night safari

I haven't had a chance to read this thread, but exactly how will this affect the health and well-being of the animals?

Doing both HP Worlds in One Day. Advice?

Doing both lands in one day is easy, particularly if you do not have any real plans to visit the rest of the parks. It also doesn't really matter which land you start with. Sequentially, you would start at Diagon Alley in Universal Studios. If you get there at park opening, you should have a...

    Matterhorn

The Matterhorn's track wasn't designed for two-car bobsleds (nor the average weight of contemporary riders), so I imagine there is a lot stress that contributes to the ride's maintenance issues. But these repeated lengthy closures highlight, to me, Disney's seemingly poor maintenance management...

When will Universal Orlando go smoke free?

Tobacco is a plant, yes. Composed, like everything else, of chemicals. Carcinogenic chemicals. Exposure to which can cause a myriad of other ailments too. L.A.'s air quality, however, can range from good on some days (meaning air pollution causes no significant risk) to Hazardous (meaning pretty...

NYT: Lawsuits Claim Disney Colluded to Replace U.S. Workers With Immigrants

It's not relevant to this thread, but I'll say this: it is common practice for theme parks to hire international employees to supplement the workforce. There are literally hundreds of reasons why there are people still unemployed in the areas where these parks are located, most of which have...

NYT: Lawsuits Claim Disney Colluded to Replace U.S. Workers With Immigrants

There is no presumption. It IS a civil suit. Only the government (local or Federal) can file a criminal suit. Not to say there won't be a criminal suit, apparently the investigation is ongoing.

NYT: Lawsuits Claim Disney Colluded to Replace U.S. Workers With Immigrants

Jury nullification is when a jury reaches a verdict which contradicts the law. This occurs when the jury disagrees with the law as it applies to the defendant(s). Assuming the allegations are true (and based on the general behavior of large corporations, they probably are), this is a law that a...

When will Universal Orlando go smoke free?

What an ignorant post. Not only is smoking disgusting and unhealthy, the smoke is heavy and lingers on the clothes of people who don't smoke. Should I really have to walk around with cigarette smoke-smelling clothes because of some selfish need to smoke in inappropriate places? And while simply...

    Should I be excited?

I'd wait. If crowd levels are low, you don't want to waste the money. You can always buy them when you get there.

Finally taking a trip to Disneyland

This. I think you have to really be careful about online reviews, particularly for motels, as people will look for almost any reason to disparage them because they didn't turn out to be the Four Seasons (housekeeping issues tend to top the complaints, but almost always seem to be resolvable...

Finally taking a trip to Disneyland

I feel the same way about the WDW and DLR hotels. You know what you're getting and don't have to worry. Off-site can be very different. The hotels in Anaheim can be a mixed bag as far as quality, but don't discount the the hotels/motels across the street on Harbor Blvd. Some are very good. There...

    News New security measures

Most people seem to think that this is about security, but the reality is that you are correct in that Disney (and the other parks) want to be seen as if they are doing something. They are trying to mitigate any future damages (i.e., claims) against them as a result of some type of incident...

    News New security measures

It's not though. It is absolutely true that terrorism is going to be your least-likely cause of death. You have a better chance of being struck by lightning. These security measures do nothing to deter a threat. Sure, it might prevent someone from "snapping" and discharging a weapon as the...

Late April trip; conflicted crowd calendars = indecision about paying more $$ to stay onsite

I agree with this post. I'd even argue that the Hard Rock Hotel is the most overpriced resort at Universal, often charging more than (IMO) the more deluxe Portofino Bay. With Early Entry, you should be able to more easily navigate the parks; however, Universal only has one Harry Potter section...

Finally taking a trip to Disneyland

I beleieve if the SR queue is full, it's about a 1-hour wait. They often close the line at that point; I think I've only ever seen it extended beyond that once. But it is definitely the best option if you don't get a FP. However, don't expect the SR line to be a walk-on, it often has a 20-30...

    News New security measures

NO ONE should be required to disclose bodily medical equipment to enter a theme park. If I had a prosthetic leg, it isn't Disney's business (only in the case in which there is a danger of having an artificial limb does Disney have any right to inquire about it, and entering the park is not one...

    News New security measures

To those who fear being killed in a terrorist attack, please stay home instead. Then we won't need to have ineffective security measures to mollify the paranoid. You're more likely to be crushed by furniture than you are to be killed by a terrorist. Maybe Disney should remove all the furniture...

    A Spirited Perfect Ten

While I don't doubt that there are guests with limited resources that stay at the so-called Value resorts, I guarantee you that people with wealth also stay at the Value resorts. And for the record, you can often get rooms off-site at moderate and deluxe hotels for the same price or maybe even...

    Universal problem.. no good food?

I find Universal's food choices to be more diverse than any other theme/amusement park I've ever been too (and more reasonably priced). And that's IN the parks. If you include CityWalk and the hotels, it's even MORE diverse than even Disney (which I find to have the worst counter service food).
